Lighting How bad is this light really?

Horticulture Lighting Group's 650r would do well. Great US company. They also have cheaper models that will cover a 4x4

GrowlightAustralia 420 Highlights are another option - top tier for spectrum from 390-800nm and 3.0umols. Best you can get on the market imo

Spiderfarmer and Mars are cheap Chinese companies using less than amazing parts but not bottom of the barrel. A lot use them here but my not my personal favorite. I prefer them to besteva/platinum/kind

BudgetLED has some nice offerings

Thanks for the help! I kind of figured I wasn't going to grow good stuff with what I had. I had my eyes on the HLG 650 already, I just wasn't sure with all the market has to offer.

I'm in no position to call anyone silly at the moment and I was looking at the spider farmer or mars as well for a bit of a stepping stone

That's actually the one I was referring to. In the future you would need to supplement 730nm. Only a few manufacturers actually have quality 660-730 diodes and those providing pumps in the 390-450 range are even less.

If I had the money my first choice is GrowlightAustralia>ChillLED>Horticulture Lighting Group. But for $700 and then with code DIY10(HLG) I believe the money would better spent with them. Get something that will last so when you know exactly what you want from your light you can upgrade or add supplemental lighting.

I run the ChilLed' GrowCraft as part of my light system. I have nothing but big ass fat buds to show for it. I over powered (PPFD) my space by 30% so I can run my lights dimmed for less heat and still max out the DLI ~50 for 550 watts.

But I did not start there. I grew some fine weed under blurples! No one told me I could not do it so I just did it. Then I advanced to a LED something like what you show in the start of the thread. I could grow some good weed with that. You have to balance what you can afford with what the wife will let you have . All kidding aside the size of my space was negotiated with Ms. MOG. There will always be a better light out there until we mimic the sun. There always seems to be a new tweak in the spectrum. I try not to have light envy every time a new model comes out.

That was well said, I'll just stick with what I have right now. Then I'll just save for one of those premo lights it won't take me long. The dragon wife that won't let me have fun is gone, so now I can get whatever the fuck I want lol
