New Grower Hope She's Gentle. It's My First Time! - Think Different

Bayes, you know, the funny thing is, I normally don't have even the slightest bit of patience, but surprisingly, I've had tons of patience for this grow! I'm actually hoping she goes at least 80 days, if not longer, so I won't have to come up with some type of emergency plan for chopping her at the right time

Day 62

Well, I was hoping to hold off about another week week, but after spotting some amber trichomes scattered throughout the buds, I have made the decision to forego tomorrow's feeding, give her a good heavy watering tonight, and start with the short flush. I want a good high, and not a stoned, couch lock feel, so I gotta start making some moves to make sure I get the effect I want. My question is, do I feed her molasses up to the very end, or cut it out with the nutes?

A fair number of people here and other boards recommend stopping molasses with the nutes, or at least that's the takeaway I got. The reason that is usually stated is that if you continue, the medicine tastes like burnt sugar.

Personally, I don't know if this is true or not but on my first grow, I did stop and I plan to stop on this grow as well.

You stop everything, molasses, nutes everything. The reason for the final cleanse is to purge everything out of her and let her cannibalize her self and eat up all her stores!!! Plain non ph'd water for her too!!

Day 62 is early for a Think different!!!

I know you want to take her early, but you will sacrifice yield on her!!! The next 20 days she will pack on some serious weight!! Did you check her trich's on the main cola?? Her side branches will be less developed, so check those too.

Well, I was hoping to hold off about another week week, but after spotting some amber trichomes scattered throughout the buds, I have made the decision to forego tomorrow's feeding, give her a good heavy watering tonight, and start with the short flush. I want a good high, and not a stoned, couch lock feel, so I gotta start making some moves to make sure I get the effect I want. My question is, do I feed her molasses up to the very end, or cut it out with the nutes?

Anyways, yes stop everything (including the molasses) when you plan to start your flush. You want to give the plant only PH'd water at that point.

BUT WAIT!!! Even though you are seeing amber tricomes, just make sure you don't harvest too early. My last grow I got too excited because I was seeing many ambering tricomes, but it was harvested at day 61, and my strain is about 70 days. I think 61 days was too early because it was very much still a head high, no body buzz with it. My current plants are at 66 and it's their last water day, and starting the dark period tonight, harvest right at day 70 this time.

Just make sure that for harvest you wait it out until the buds themselves look done, not necessarily the trichomes. Watch the leaves dying around the buds and the hairs will litterly crawl back into the bud and that's when you know you are really close to harvest.

I've been keeping an eye on the main cola, and the bigger of the side branches. They've all been pretty devoid of amber, almost all cloudy, and very little clear for the past week or so. I checked her today, and all of a sudden, I'm seeing spatterings of amber trichs here and there. I don't want that couch lock high, and I was worried that if I stretch her out another two weeks, most of the cloudy trichs will have become amber. I gotta admit, I am a tad bit fidgety, simply because I don't wanna take her past her time, but I also, of course, don't wanna take her early. How long do you think it will take those that are cloudy to turn amber? Also, you mentioned non pH'd water. So, once the flush begins, the pH of the water doesn't matter?

Time is near, yes!!! But is it time? Damn! I'm not so sure as I was a few hours ago! You and Briman have me wondering if I should hit the "go" button, or hold off for a while longer. Yeah I think so. I mean if you are gearing up for an 18 day flush... then go for it. But I would start your flush about 7-10 days before your harvest time. From my past experience, if it's an 80 day strain, don't harvest it at least until then. Most of the time the seed to harvest time is over stated, and in fact takes a bit longer to finish. What I'm saying is, I would recommend not harvesting until that 80 day mark, and just plan your flush so that you start it on maybe day 70. That would give you a 10 day flushing time frame.

I'll be updating my thread today, so make sure you check it out. I'll show some pics just before they go into dark period, and you can see what they look like after 6 days of water only. The leaves really start to die off and yellow, and all in all I think all the fan leaves will be dead when they come out of there dark period. This is why I think a 10 day flush is a good idea, because it's going to take about 10 days from the time that I started the flush to the time that all of their leaves are going to be falling off. Also my buds are nice and sticky but very very rock hard!

If you think they are getting close, grab a lower, smaller bud, and steam dry it in the microwave - look the method up on google. Takes about 20 min before you can smoke it. It will still be a bit harsh, but you will get an idea of the type of high from smoking a small sample. Then you will know if it's where you want it to be or not.

Everything briman says here is spot on. Hold your wad for another 14 days and then flush, it'll make all the difference!

Bandit: BubbleKarma makes a point, your desire may be completely different than others. Like myself, I've been looking for more of that knock your dick in the dirt high as of late, more of that couch lock effect, but I have a buddy who harvests when it's half cloudy half clear, way too early for me, but to each their own. So yes, they def fill out a lot in the last couple weeks but it may not be what you're looking for. I'd kinda start sampling to get an idea.
