New Grower Hog's First Grow

Things starting to come together
Thanks @stan_mephisto! Was able to grab the two strains you recommended, plus some Samsquanch and Fugue State! Can't wait to get it all going.

Hey friend,

What size tent is that? 4x4? If I can make a small suggestion..... set your tent up on a section of foam insulation board to separate it from the floor. That looks like a basement floor to me and the foundation will suck the heat out of there during the winter.

If you go to lowes/home depot, find the 4'x8' sheets of foam board insulation. They will cut it for you if you ask for 1 cut. Have them cut it in half and you should have two 4x4 pieces. Perfect to slip under the tent and much easier to fit in your car for the ride home. Don't worry about thickness or R values. Just find the cheapest one. Also remember it's going to be double thick so even a 1/2" sheet will be 1" of insulation.

A quick look at HD's website and I saw this $15 4x8 sheet. 1" thick too!

This is my @Marshydro 4x4 tent and FCe-4800. If you look at the bottom left corner of the image you can see the stacked foam board I use. A 4x4 is slightly less than 4'x4' so it fits perfectly.

@DC, thanks for the tip! Yeah its a 4x4 I was just thinking about that as I was getting it set up. Gotta get a dehumidifier there anyway so ill just throw that on the list.

Let there be (LED) Light!
@Marshydro. Everything setup and working great! Definitely not the final setup for the fan/filter, just wanted to check everything out. Now just waiting on Natures Living Soil autoflower concentrate and my package from @mephisto !:woohoo:

You should have enough space along one of the walls to hang the fan/filter without it hitting the light. I have mine off center so I have a "work channel" down one side.

I would put the dehumidifier outside the tent and keep the room cool/dry. Let the exhaust fan suck dry air into the tent as needed and have a humidifier inside the tent adding moisture as needed. I think that's easier to balance. VPD is an advanced bit of technique but worth reading up on. High rh% early on and drop as the grow progresses.

A large whole room dehumidifier can keep it at 50%rh which will be ideal for lowering the in tent rh during flower and for hanging to dry later on.

Got a few pots ready to be mixed with Natures Living Soil. Ocean Forest mixed with Mykos from Xtreme gardening. Mixed up 2 parts Light Warrior with one part OF for the seeds to start it. Not a bad day's work!

Friday Update
Just an update before the weekend:
Got myself a ph meter and as I expected from my city's water quality reports, it was ycoming out of the tap at 9.3. I also know it has chlorine so I left a 5 gallon barrel out to dissipate.
Today I eyeballed about how much lemon juice I'd need to drop the ph to around 6.5
My chef training obviously came in handy as my quick math worked and it is sitting comfortably at around 6.3.
Went to go check out the MMJ grow shop up the street from my new house. After talking for while and checking out their stock of autoflower seeds (Mostly Humboldt Seed Co.), she offered me 30% a 3 pack of Twenty20 Mendocino's Muchacha and I couldn't resist!

I've got two of them soaking in distilled water (4-6 hrs i think, since the package says they have an extra thick shell?), then ill transfer them into 5 gallon pots. Starting in about 1.25 qt of 75% FF Light Warrior/25% FF Ocean Forest+Mykos. The rest if the pots are prepared with a Living soil mix with Natures Living Soil and OF + Mykos.

I figured I'd get these started as small test run before I can have going before I get my order from @mephisto. Cheers everybody, have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for dropping by my thread! I wouldn't have known the shop was there, but they have a HSC logo on their building that I noticed as I walked by last week. Definitely want to grab some HSC Vanilla Latte Auto at some point. They also have some clones of All Gas OG and some others. I was considering putting one or two of those in my tent to veg while my first autos finish up. Then I'd have an idea of which I prefer a little faster than just doing one right after the other.
