Great thread, ive been tossing around adding a couple DWC buckets to my room, but now I know this is what im going to try. Im new to growing but was crazy about aquariums and it reminds me of deep sand beds. For decades people tried to avoid deep substrate where aerobic bacteria thrived, because when disturbed the bacteria would die and could ruin a system. BUT when done properly to simulate nature it can have amazing results. I think this is probably similar where root rot is a concern, but in nature wetlands often have incredible growth so the plants have obviously figured out how to deal with constant moisture somehow. I cant figure out if im doing this because I love pot or because I love science
