Hey folks! I'm not totally new to autos, but haven't been as successful as some of the results I've been seeing here. I definitely wanna maximize my potential. Just finishing a cycle now with Blue Amnesia XL, Fruit, & Kush n Cheese. I used Fox Farm Ocean Forest with no nutes. Just water and some HiBrix. My lighting currently is a DIY CFL setup.

My local grow shop recommended another type of Fox Farm called "Strawberry Fields" stating that this soil is supposed to be geared towards blooming and that nutes weren't necessary. Has anyone here used this brand with any success? Let me know please if you have with some details.

I'm pretty much sticking to soil growing for now but I'm open to ANY & ALL suggestions. I know i could use a bump in my lighting so I really need suggestions on soil and nutrients preferably using the Fox Farm Strawberry Fields.

The strains I have on hand are...
Auto Seeds: Candy Kush, Chemdog, & Polar Express
Dinafem: Sour Diesel
Paradise Seeds: Wappa, White Berry, & Vertigo
Sweet Seeds: Dark Devil

PLEASE HELP!!! and Happy Choosing!!!

LOMFL!!! Were you looking over my shoulder the other night?!?!? I hadn't received any responses so I just went for it...Those were my 2 picks!!!

What medium/method are you using and with what kinda results???
i use NFT hydro mate. in terms of yield its the dogs bollocks image.jpeg just chopped that the other day. from 1 auto : ) the quality doesnt look as good as the soil/coco versions ive seen tbh but ill find out once its dry.

thats fate lol had to be the obvious choices though : )

Hey Jay! I would tend to stay away from nuted soils. They may have a good amount of N-P-K, but most often, the plant gets too much of one of the 3 and you get lock out by flower or mid flower. Even though the FF Strawberry fields is geared toward flower, it will probably need more nitrogen later on in the grow cycle. If you want a great harvest and up your game, I would get plain soil/soil-less medium and pick a nute line. 2 part a&b veg and bloom is simple. Think of the medium as the buffer for your ph too. As your soil/soil-less medium dries out, the ph in the soil goes up, so if we know plants in that medium like 6.5 ph, run it at 6.0-6.4 and as it dries, your plant is always in the good ph zone. Alot more goes into play, to up your yields, like water less, more often. Instead of watering/feeding every 2-3 days, make a smaller feed and give it to them 1 time or 2 times a day and you will get hydro type yields with a soil/soil-less medium!:headbang: Lift your pots! Lift your pots right after you water and note the weight of the whole thing. As the plant drinks and takes the moisture out of the medium, it will get alot lighter. This will ensure you arent over watering, which can stunt a auto. Also poke you index finger in the medium and if it sticks to your finger, its wet enough. If nothing sticks to your finger, time to water/feed. Need anything else, let me know!

:toke:-- hey J'-- I've not heard any feedback of this new blend, but I have little confidence in FF soils anymore,.. for quite a while now, I've been seeing badly acidic bags of OF showing up, and have tested several myself using the Accurate 8 soil pH probe,...some were in the low 5's pH- :nono:... HF is a little better,... but I generally hear more complaints that praise for their true soil,... rocks, sticks, poorly broken down components,... they aren't what they used to be years ago! Still, some folks get OK bags, so i figure it tied to local sourcing and manufacturing,... I used to really like their soil, but after TARFU'ing some plants, and fighting pH, I moved onto other better soils,... a more widely available decent soil is Roots Organics,.. maybe Vermisoil is too-? I used that this year, and it's nice stuff! In any case, if you grow in soil, you NEED a quality soil pH probe as mentioned,.. test in-bag first, always,... between monitoring and adjusting your water/nute inputs, and checking the in-pot soil pH, you can prevent a lot of trouble before it gets out of hand! :greenthumb:

@Jaythree the dark devil is worth growing for sure. Heres a pic of some bud off of a mutant i grew out and i also think she had some N toxicity. Wasnt dense because of issues on my part but still turned out nicely. Im looking forward to giving it a go again.:pass:
You can find my grow journal for that dark devil in the micro section if you want to read about my struggles:smoking:
