Help needed i think

@Proph Yes I'm getting up too 5.8 , do you think the sour orange is going to be a disappointment as 60% pistols brown , or she will revert back to fattening ?

Pistils and their color is not how you want to determine if the plant is done. Checking the trichomes is how you determine if a plant is finished. You want at least 80% milky trichome heads with a few amber ones.. The plant will continue to do it's job until you chop it. So it will continue growing. I can't speak to how it will turn out, because every issue or slow down will effect the end product, be it the yield or the flavor. Will you be able to tell? Probably not. But the goal is to learn from our mistakes every grow and try to improve on the next one. In my opinion, all newer growers should have a liquid ph pen, a ppm pen, and a soil ph probe. With those three things you can properly diagnose any issues you encounter.

No problem bro. Hope it helps. No need to water for a day or so..give it time to absorb what's in the medium. And 50% strength for the nutrients (don't add Cal mag if using tap water) is about right. That should be safe. That should get you through until harvest. Then you can use water only the last week.

Your issue wasn't crazy bad or anything.. so now you want to watch the leaves around the problem area and make sure the issues isn't spreading to other leaves. That's how you can tell if the flush is working.. The spreading should stop or slow down.

Have any of us suggested that this late in the game with the plants looking (actually) pretty damn good that drastic flushing (if flushing can be construed as drastic) and other changes are really necessary? I think they look great. Maybe adjust the PH. Do a little calcium (eggshells and vinegar is a great option) maybe a little epsom salt if for no other reason than the sulphur. Plants are probably using less nutes (slowing down) so dial back the nutes. Let her finish with grace. Just thoughts.
Peace

How else do you fix a nutrient or ph lock out? How do you get an excess of nutrients out of the medium without flushing? In coco, flushing is actually recommended at flower and then again at harvest. Coco holds onto an abundance of sodium(salt).. And that salt build up can cause lockouts...

His plants aren't in bad shape, but there is definitely an issue and he was smart to want to address it And correct it. If not addressed, it will get worse and spread. But they dont look pretty damn good in my opinion, lol. When you have big rust spots on the leaves, something is off by a good amount and it should not be ignored.

Here is a pic of my current plants. A few weeks until harvest.. Zoom in.. Do you see any marks or discoloration on any of the leaves? That's what I would consider looking pretty damn good, lol. Green leaves.. No red or purple on the stems.. Those are signs of completely healthy and happy plants. If things started going down hill today, I wouldn't just add more nutes and try to make it until harvest.. I would diagnose and address whatever the issue is and try to correct it before harvest.

Agreed. I would flush. I guess my words were wrong. They look pretty darn good for being in late flower. I think they will be ok.

Just in case.. I definitely wasn't trying to single you out. When Im typing, in my head Im talking to the general public or whoever may be reading.. But I know sometimes my words come across like so may be talking to a single person. So please, don't ever take anything I post to heart! It's never towards a person. Plus, Im all about learning and discussing. You might know a way to correct a lock out that I don't know about. Im just noticing a trend after being here for years..

When I first got on site, a few og's took me under their wing and showed me the importance of educating myself and learning how to diagnose issues.. Lately, in the last year or two, it seems the advice a lot of people are giving is stuff like "that plants look fine" or "they'll be ok", or "nothing to worry about".. When that's just not a good practice at all. Lol. I guess I got a little triggered, lol. Sorry about that bro!

Agreed. I was not trying to minimize the situation at all. And I have real issues with responses like "dont know what to tell you" etc. I usually would say nothing if I did not have anything to contribute. In this case I was just trying to reduce stress as I truly believe he is past any real danger chronologically. I will be sure to consider my input more carefully. Thank you.

I check out posts where folks are asking for help as they are a great place to get some solid information from those with a lot of experience with autos and indoor growing. I sorta use it as a test for myself as in "what would I do" and wait for some solid replies to see if I'm close I'm on my second grow now and what I learned from my first run is growing autos indoors is a dance, keeping everything in balance and as close to optimal as possible. I'm an old dog learning new tricks that appreciates solid input. :greencheck:
