Help!!!! DWC ISSUES!!!!

What EC did you had after a night? Did the leaves get back up? Don't worry too much about those roots yet.
I went for 0.6 and yes all plants have propped back up although you can see that they’ve been damaged by the feed

That might just be nutrient staining but if you are not running Botanicare HydroGuard you should be. Your roots look "stripped" are you running high quality air stones with tiny bubbles? Large violent bubbles will strip lateral root hairs.

I see from previous posts you may be reading your EC pen incorrectly. There are several scales used in the industry and many meters do not display the decimal point.

Here is a handy chart to keep everyone on the same PPM.

Hi, yeah I’ve been using my pen correctly. I got lazy and to trustworthy of Remo’s nutrient calculator. If I would have just checked the EC before filling them bucket I’d be fine. Yeah my air stones are fine. The tanks bubble like a kettle. Hundreds of little bubbles all through the solution. I’m also running hydrogaurd.

Just like in any infirmary you will have scars and bruises,.. Give them some time, but they will get better and stronger than before.

So do you think keeping them in veg for another few weeks will what they need? Coupled with a low EC of course

So what’s the verdict here? Root rot or root stain?

Stain. Rot is slimy and would have made them turn more brown.

That’s reassuring. I’ve been growing NFT all year and had root rot each time so I really don’t want that now with dwc!!! I’ve had lockout and rot from roots that are much less darker than these tho. Be never had roots go this black either, but then on the other hand the Remo line use natural products in their mixes and the mix I gave was literally 9X what I would have regularly given.

@Wico @Mañ'O'Green @derek420colorado just checked them again and they don’t really smell of anything and they aren’t slimy either. Would this suggest it’s more likely root stain?
If you are running Fresh HydroGuard at 2ml/gallon it is not root rot.

They should not bubble like a kettle and you should have millions of micro bubbles not hundreds. They just float to the surface not pop to the surface.

Be sure to get stones with plastic or Stainless Steel fittings.

It is not just about the agitation in the tank. It also has to do with the diffusion of oxygen in the water. The gas exchange take place on the surface of the bubble. Smaller bubbles have much more surface area for the same volume of air. This will get more oxygen in the water and that is what we want.
