Live Stoner Chat Hello, lurker newbie that has Mephisto Gen Sour C otw.

[QUOTE="IraqJack, post: 857088, member: 29396"in boAs far as the soilless is concerned, I want to keep it simple, and user friendly. I would love it if someone could straight say this my recipe etc lol. I was thinking 50% coco, 40% perlite, 5% clay pellets (layer the bottom and top), 5% worm castings, and I'd need to research again on how much lime, I will be hand watering nute's at least 50% or less strength since that's what I've been reading is best for autos. I figured I could only go with 2 plants, lst, because I will have tight quarters. If anyone can suggest a 300w led that is 150 USD or less, the GalaxyHydro I'm looking at on Amazon is going for 110 right now.

CGR, you're response on the soilless was exactly what I'm shooting for. Didn't see it before I remarked at wanting a recipe lol. So that being said, once I plant the germinated seed in that mix, I'd like to know what you're rule of thumb is on feeding? There's so much info out there, and of course different strokes for different plants, just looking for a general schedule to ensure a solid start.[/QUOTE]
Go to the hydro section and click on the coco in bold print. You will find it a very good read

:coffee2:
with that mix i plan to feed with Avery watering --teas @ feed ---the whole ride ..the only time she will get plan water is the last two weeks of your life:smoking:...remember this is my first round with this mix so there will be a learning carve ,but thats my plan my friend

Tried to find the eco2 but it wasn't available, found it on eBay though for just under $50. Not trying to be a cheap ass lol, but do you think the HDE brand on Amazon is acceptable?
Jack, I've never used the HDE, but I've heard it is pretty accurate, but the storage & calibration fluids are a must. I use the drops for my first grows, and had a very tough time reading the results. It is better than nothing, though. On Amazon: I can't get the page to link, , just copy and paste in Amazon.

Hello Jack,

as you say, there is no substitute for starting a grow. The learning curve starts here. Good luck chum, eP

Jack,

Keep in mind that when a light is listed at a certain wattage it's really not putting out that wattage. It looks like the GalaxyHydro 300w LED is 130-138 actual wattage. If your lighting budget is $150 I would grab a pair of MarsHydro 300w LED units. They are 125-130 actual watts and a pair of them are $137.96 on eBay shipped to your front door. A pair of them will give you some flexibility to your grow tent, allow you to move on to a larger tent in the future and 1 over each plant would be overkill. MarsHydro has a very strong following and a solid track record. I gotta be honest I have never heard of GalaxyHydro brand.

Something that has not been talked about yet, what is your plan for ventilation? Is the smell of the grow something you need to be careful with? It is amazing how much a couple of plants(even small ones) will smell even before they start flowering.

You have some great genetics in your hands with the Mephisto seeds. When do you plan on getting everything together and seeds in the grownd?

Hey hotbunz (typing your name makes me laugh haha) I actually was just on eBay looking at the 2pc 300w led's. Probably going to go that route, and get a 3x3x5/6 tent because I would like to have 3 going and I want more height. I do want to get a carbon filter, BUT I live in a house where I can get away without one for this grow. More then likely I will invest in one, along with curing/drying equip next month when I get paid again. I know I need some inline fans for ventilation to dissipate heat, but I'm kind of hoping I can work around this issue with the placement of my tent in my spare bedroom by placing it near where my ac vent blows. Maybe even ducting from that vent into the tent itself? Idk. My budget is pretty tapped out so I will be trying to work with what I can if possible. I will know more once I have ordered everything and set up. I'm thinking if all goes well with shipping, and I feel comfortable with the grow environment, that I will have plants started about a week into July or so, maybe mid July. Seeds aren't being sent to me until tomorrow and I'm unsure as to how long that will take to arrive here in the southwest, and I will be ordering everything else on Wednesday.

Anyone have experience ordering direct from Mitch @ Mephisto? That happens to live in the southwest region of the US? Curious about shipping times. I went with the super stealth route to be safe even though it cost a bit more.

Ultimately I want to learn what I can through this first grow, and make improvements, upgrade/add to the equipment as I go.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/221461932701 - this is the 2pc from MarsHydro

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2PC-300w-IR...335?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c888160d7 - and this is the GalaxyHydro version.

Price is basically the same. 2 differences I noted were that Mars offers a 1year warranty, and the Galaxy offers 2 years. Also Mars is 5w led's, whereas the Galaxy is 3w. So I'm concluding that Mars is more powerful since it can support more wattage? I will go with the MarsHydro as long as they get the stamp of approval from those experienced with their product.

Cool bro good luck with the coco! If I can recommend something for ease-of-use.. I'm a lazy ass... advanced nutrients sensi coco... no need to ph  and from what I hear gen hydro is now owned by monsanto?! Screw em!
Idk about the lime and castings... I use coir straight with clay on top and bottom. I feed every time I water tho ecause coir itself has no food. And someone said cal mag... yes u will need it.
