Hi everyone,

Not only am I new to growing period, I'm new to forums like these as well. I've been researching heavily, preparing for my new journey into growing my own medicine. You can only read so much information before you realize the only way to learn more is by getting started actually growing. What I'd like to do today is introduce myself, list what items I am ordering, my game plan, and get some feedback, tips, advice from you autoflower master growers out there so I can be successful on this first grow.

This is my "grocery" list:
1.) Grow Tent: 24"x24"x48"
2.) Lighting: GalaxyHydro LED 300W (edit) *MarsHydro 2pc 300w leds*
3.) Smart Pots: 5pak 3 gallon
4.) Temp/Humidity meter
5.) TDS/PPM tester
6.) pH General Hydroponics up/down kit
7.) Nute's: General Hydroponics Go Box (edit) *going with just the flora trio*
8.) Floor Fan
9.) Coco Coir 4pk 650g bricks
10.) Perlite 8 quarts x2
11.) Powdered Dolomite Lime
12.) Worm Castings
13.) Hydro Clay Pellets
14.) DIY Co2 generator (yeast, sugar, 2 bottles, aquarium tubing, silicone)

Last but not least i ordered some Sour Crack fem seeds direct from Mephisto Genetics which I am told will be shipped out to me Monday along with some freebies to include Fantasmo Express and maybe some surprises idk about lol. I've researched heavily on what I needed, what was best and there are a million ways to skin a cat I know. I'm on a semi tight budget but feel that my list seems pretty comprehensive. I'm looking for advise to a complete beginner. I plan on a 1-2 plant grow to begin because from what I've read on my lighting, and 2x2 tent space that is all I can fit. Anyone have experience on these GalaxyHydro LED systems? Also, with the soilless media ingredients I have listed, what would you recommend as far as amounts to mix etc, as I've read a ton of conflicting info in that area. Not looking for guess work but someone who has or is doing this sort of diy mix. I'm worried my inexperience may hurt my plants as far as the beginning stage of planting the germinated seed into a medium that has the perfect amount of nutrients during its seedling phase. I will definitely be keeping a journal tracking my progress as well.

Ps: I have not bought my shopping list yet, I will be ordering it all on the 1st, so this upcoming Wednesday. So any amendments on the part of the members here can be easily made :)

what is your current plant with your mix? i'm fairly "green" to all this as well, but it seems like you have some stuff to make an amended soil mix [castings, dolomite] and some stuff for soilless [the coco, pearlite, liquid nutes]. also, am curious as to what your plan is with the hydro pellets. anyway, if you lay out your plan there a little bit more I'd bet you'll get better info from some of the vets on here.

good luck with your grow!!!

Glad to have you jack , :welcome:i run 50 /50 sunshine mix#4 and coco and i ad about 30 % EXTRA chunky perlite with 2 tablespoons lime per gal , i never added EWC but its a good idea so i look forward to hearing what others have to say if i had to wing it i would put the same amount as the perlite 30% :baked:...but i also plan to feed EWC tea , good luck my friend and once again welcome to the family!!!

Welcome aboard Jake.....hang on for the ride!

Here is my 2cents on your shopping list. As for lighting I don't have any personal experience with the light you have listed but looking at is on eBay I believe it is a knock off of the MarsHydro 300w old model(I have 2 of them). For your 24"x24" it should be fine anymore floor area and you would want another one. With 3 gallon pots you will fine you only want to grow 2 plants at a time in that space. I think with the 48" tent you will most likely need to LST( low stress training) your plants if not you may run out of ceiling height.

I wish you well with your first grow.

Welcome Jack! Make sure you check out some of the network's grow journals to get some good ideas. Glad to hear you are planning on posting a grow journal once you're set up. When using LEDs, don't forget the CalMag! On your list, get items for drying and curing as well.
Happy growing!:growing:

Glad to have you with us, Jack, :welcome: to the Light!! :zen:
I would make sure you have a good pH meter (my Eco2 is still going strong) along with storage fluid and calibration fluid.
On the subject of grow media, and I've never done soilless, but be careful with your EWC in the mix. This is a good read, at least as it applies to my favorite stuff, dirt. :pighug: http://www.worldofworms.com/chemical-side-of-worm-casting/
As they say, it's the growing that is addictive! :smokeit:
:peace:,

I definitely plan on getting calmag, I'm actually going to go with the flora series trio rather then the go box. Definitely will get harvesting items, but the budget is tapped at the moment. I plan on getting those items a month from now.

As far as the soilless is concerned, I want to keep it simple, and user friendly. I would love it if someone could straight say this my recipe etc lol. I was thinking 50% coco, 40% perlite, 5% clay pellets (layer the bottom and top), 5% worm castings, and I'd need to research again on how much lime, I will be hand watering nute's at least 50% or less strength since that's what I've been reading is best for autos. I figured I could only go with 2 plants, lst, because I will have tight quarters. If anyone can suggest a 300w led that is 150 USD or less, the GalaxyHydro I'm looking at on Amazon is going for 110 right now.

CGR, you're response on the soilless was exactly what I'm shooting for. Didn't see it before I remarked at wanting a recipe lol. So that being said, once I plant the germinated seed in that mix, I'd like to know what you're rule of thumb is on feeding? There's so much info out there, and of course different strokes for different plants, just looking for a general schedule to ensure a solid start.

Amazon product ASIN B00W2D7U9W
Tried to find the eco2 but it wasn't available, found it on eBay though for just under $50. Not trying to be a cheap ass lol, but do you think the HDE brand on Amazon is acceptable? I was trying to get away with the one that came with the ph up/down from general hydro that you just put your sample in and shake then match up the color to the scale on the bottle. Which I know obviously isn't pinpoint accurate.
