Ok , This is something I have been interested in for a while , I started 1/2 way into this grow . Now I have to put a disclaimer in here . --- I have no scientific back ground to back up what I am seeing . Only observation [ as in every thing I do ] I am onto my 4 setup . This one will be what I will stick with .So brewing chamber is a 15 liter drum .
The piping I am using is 4mm . From the drum it leads into the bubble bottle .
From here into the room , now the room is not air tight by any means . I first had the out let just under the big fan , but was never happy with that , so I changed the angle of the aircon and I now have a gentle breeze and the outlet pipe is just above the canopy .
the aircon is above this which spreads the gas around .
so what do I do . -- Mix -- 4 kg of white sugar mixed into 6 liter of hot water to desolve it , then topped up with 4 liter of gold water . Then I wait for it to cool down a bit , to this I add 16 grams of bakers yeast and give it a good shake . After a day I add another 4 grams and shake again , I have a fair bubble count going on to make up for not being airtight . One thing I do is shake the drum once a day to stir things up , also as I see the bubbles slow down I add another 4 grams of yeast and shake again , also when I open the door I will shake the drum again to top up the co2 . Having clear pipe you can see how much gas is being produced by looking at the gas bubbles moving in the pipe and the rate of bubbling .
Out of the one drum mix I am getting 6 day to 7 days . I have worked it out at a cost of 62 cents a day . Is it worth while , To me it is at this stage and will be doing it over coming grows . Now again nothing to base it on but my observation . The plants are telling me they like it and I have seen good growth rate . My soil and feeding are the same so nothing there has changed . For such a low work input I don't see how it can do any harm -- as long as you don't go over board , steady as she goes . You do have to dial it in to suit your grow room , so there is a bit of work to start till you get the hang of what is going on . :smoking:
