Problem: HBSS in EarthBoxes progressive lightening of newer leaves. Old fan leaves not affected.

Medium/grow method: Roots Organic Original

Feed: and supplements used: Top dressed each with
Ground up 4 table spoons of Thorvin Kelp
Ground up 1/2 cup of Alfalfa meal
One cup of DuMore Chicken crumble
1/2 cup of bokoshi

water source: Rain water 7.0PH

Strain/age:HBSS

light used: SP3000 and Cali Lightworks165watts full grow

Climate: Last 4 days 80*F 60%rH

Additional info: Exact same media in 7 gal pots with no problems with two other strains. BOTH HBSS are showing exact same signs.
Added recommended amount of dolomite lime at the time of filling the container
I started to notice a very slight lightening of the new and new growth Wednesday or Thursday. It has progressed. Old growth is not problematic.
I've checked the overflow water every time I watered with very minimal changes in pH.

Two possible problem areas:
I think the cause.
1. I've had to pull up the lights 5-6 times in the last 3 days. Now that was after finding out I had the SP3000 fully dimmed and I think it was like that for 2 or 3 cycles.
All the girls jumped up, but most so with the HBSS. The past two days, when I woke up, the girls shot up and got up to 23in and 22in each day. That's probably over 900ppfd. Girls in the 7gal pots are not as tall.

2. Other than a couple days after applying the bokoshi, I have no kind of mat development, even after this week's application. I think the compost mites have eaten it as it forms.

Other than those things, I have nothing. I've pulled up the lights to 26in for the time being

With the canopy getting that close, after finding about the dimming and fully bringing the lights back up, could it caused a shock to the roots and caused them to have a problem delivering nutrients?

Or is this a simple bleaching/light stress?

Man. My 4 SP3000s are within 16" of all my plants. No more than 18"

By the way I hate when people give a non answer answer. Was not my intent here. The only point I was making was it is strange I have no light stress on any plants...

I understand where ya coming from. I've had it close too in the last grow.

What comes into play with the possibility of a light burn is me finding I had the lights fully dimmed for at least 2 maybe 3 light cycles. When I figured this out, I cranked it back up and the girls jumped up.

It's either early light burn, or a micro nutrient issue. I doubt light burn though as the tips aren't browned. Possibly caused by PH too high.
I don't really know the true pH of the rez water with sampling the overflow water. I need to take it directly from the res.
I can get a general idea of the pH of the media itself with the simple moisture/pH probe.

I can't imagine the pH being actually too high. Without adding the 1lb dolomite recommended by EB, TxRebel/Mark had issues that went acidic.

I'm thinking it a combo of the light and some sort def that was maybe borderline and the light knocked it over.

I'll check the rez pH directly and check the media and post results.

If you are using a ph pen make sure it is calibrated. I have had more problems started by the pen being off. I have 2 not cheap ones, Bluelab and Apera.

I have never tried a soil PH meter that actually was even close. Over time I purchased 3. They all went in the garbage.
