Nutrients Harvest Gold Silica trial test: Sweet Seeds Cream Caramel in a 2-Liter Soda Bottle

Here we are at the two-week mark for each of these two plants. Something is clearly wrong with Golda, on the left. She seems comatose and just barely hanging on. I don't know, maybe she's just being busy underground, but above soil -- almost nothing. After 14 days since sprouting cotyledons she should be taller than 1.5 inches and have much better leaf development. Granted, her sister Nora is not exactly knocking it out of the park, but at least she growing somewhat. I do not attribute Golda's delayed development to anything environmental, and certainly not to the HG Silica amendment. I think it's just genetics.

I'll give Golda a little longer to see if she can finally get things in gear. But last night I began germinating another Cream Caramel as a potential replacement.

Well, patience may be rewarded. Looks like Golda is finally coming to life; she added 1/2 inch and actually put out a set of new leaves that look half-way normal. Here she on day 17; obviously has some catching up to do compared to the 17 day old Nora. But she's on her way.

In the meantime, my backup is well underway. This third Cream Caramel will also be running the HG Silica program. So far she seems very vigorous -- went from dry seed to sprouted plant in just 3 days. Today I put her in a 3" peat pot amended with 12.5% silica. Everyone got a nice misting with Biotabs' Boom-Boom spray.

Yes indeed, Golda has come to life and shed here early mutant behavior, but I don't know if she'll ever catch up to Nora. So its a good thing I popped another seed. The third gal, l'll call her Doro, is strong and doing well, so she'll be a nice comparison for the Silica trial. Here they are today, day 25 for Nora, day 23 for Golda, and day 8 for Doro.

Now take a look at the comparison of each at about the same age:

It certainly helps when the seed is not compromised, eh? Doro is gonna give Nora a run for the gold. :d5: :smoking:

Looking good! One thing to note throughout this study is how green the leaves are comparatively, and the sheen they will naturally have. Stalks and internodal spacing will be another interesting thing as well. Love this journal @Only1Sky! Thank you!

Yep, noted from your "Test Questionaire Sheet" that these characteristics should you observed. As Doro and Golda get bigger, I hope the photos will help distinguish a difference.

Here's a comparison with each plant at eleven days since sprouting. Doro is clearly the front-runner with better color and a bit more growth. Golda is still struggling to come out of the arrested development from her initial mutant dormancy. Nora doing OK, but showing some paleness in her new leaves.

Time for some updates. HGS is showing its stuff. Look at the 3 when each was 16 days old. Nora, then Golda, then Doro.

Nora, without HGS, is growing, but struggling a bit. :smoking: :smoking: Golda, with HGS, is waking up from her coma.  And Doro, with HGS, is happy as can be & off to the races :headbang:

Now lets roll forward 5 more days, and look at the 3 when each was 21 days old. 1st Nora without HGS. Then Golda in the middle and Doro on the right, both with HGS. Nora is settling in to life in bottle - new leaves are healthier than her early fans. Golda has clearly come to life and is putting out some healthy, green leaves -- of course, she still lags due to her first 10-12 days being in basically a coma. But check out Doro -- shows what a healthy seed can do with the HGS. She clearly is showing healthier and more vigorous growth than Nora. I'm liking what I'm seeing.

Good morning Silica Growers. Today its Day 25 for Doro. Lets see how she compares to her sisters when they were just 25. My money is on Doro. :greencheck:
