Old Reviews hand crank trimmers??????????

Hey guys.. Ok so i bought the 16"trimmer..its much bigger then i thought. Here's my Problem. When i recieved it,it had not come with the attacment to connect the handle to the trimmer and or drill.View attachment 131631 this is what it looked like when i got it.

Now i have since contacted the company(some idiot reselling them from china) and he doesnt even have the missing piece. He offered me a full refund if i returned it or i could keep it and he would refund me more then half.

I decided to keep it and try to solve the problem myself because i needed to use it asap and couldnt be bothered to wait to get another.

So after searching for 3 days i found a bit that fits into this weird socket and a screw that fits into that that technically should allow me to use a drill to spin it.

\The pieces fit and the drill attached, but my drill im using wont even spin it? its an 18V drill/cordless...im pretty pissed..and on top of that still dont know how i can attach the handle cuz i would be more then happy if i can just get this damn thing to spin..crank or drill..

if anyone can help me think of a way to either get the handle on or a drill to work,it would really help me out. This whole process has turned into a nightmare.
I need to find a solution ASAP

Sorry to hear about the troubles with the purchase bro. This is a totally ridiculous question and I'm only asking because I've done similar things more times than I'd like to admit to, but did you make sure the drill was set to spin clockwise? It seems like it's designed to spin in only one direction and an 18V should have more than enough torque to spin it. Did you check to make sure there's no type of lock or zip tie that they put on to keep the parts from spinning in transit?

Can you snap a set of pics that show the top the way it came, and then the parts that you found laying around that you think will work? I love MacGyver fixes bro I'd be happy to help brainstorm. :smokebuds:

thanks for the Fast Reply GreenBastard, Im going nuts over here..right now im at work,so i cant take pics.The pic i posted above is exactly how it was when i got it.
As soon as i get home i will take a pic of everything including pieces i bought.
I would be soo happy if i could just be able to spin it by the crank handle. i need to find a way to get that crank going if the drill wont.

To answer your Q..Yes i made sure it was going clockwise. I'm going to double check if anything is blocking it from spinning like stems or something..just to be safe.
I'm not a MacGyver type by any means..i wish i was but im not. So any help is Great. Thank you.

Alright groovy. You have a couple options. I think your best bet would be to get the proper sized Torx socket:

... to fit in here:

Then find a ratchet with the matched drive size for the Torx socket (longer handle = more leverage = easier spinning):

or....

Another option if you have these things laying around:

Torx bit like this:

And the proper sized box end wrench to fit over the Torx bit:

The second option won't be as solid of a mechanical connection and won't be quite as easy to turn as the first option, but if you already have the parts laying around and don't have to shell out extra $, definitely worth a shot.

Already Your Post has been more way more helpful and visual then my last 2 days searching everywhere. You are already helping me way more then canadian tire and home depot employees..
i tried a Torx socket (not the one multi sided one you showed*couldnt find that type only a hex piece)..it didnt fit just finding the right size was a problem...


I couldnt for the life of me figure out where even to find a piece that would fit for a drill. Then a buddy came up with a piece that fits in and another screw that goes in that,,then i bought an socket adapet for the drill...so it should work but doesnt i did not try to use one of thos wrenches and manually do it...that seems like it would work, i dont have one lying around though so i will have to get one..

any thoughst how i could connect the handle to cran?k it
im pissed i cant post the makeshift attempt of a solutionin a few hours when i get home ill take a bunch of pics for you to see.

No worries bro, happy to help. :smokebuds: If you were using a hex piece, it wasn't a Torx socket. The Torx is specifically the 6-sided star-shaped bit. With how many notches there are inside the fitting where you would put the bit, you should be able to get the points on the star of the Torx bit to get a hold if you find the right sized Torx to match up.

If it's something that you're going to need to buy, you don't necessarily need to get a ratchet to turn the Torx socket. You can get a cheap breaker bar with the appropriate sized drive to match your Torx socket:

Also, is it possible to remove this fitting?

If you can, I would take it off and bring it with you when you go to the store to get the Torx bit so you can make sure you get a match. Might save you a return trip or two if you don't have to guess, and unfortunately you can't take the whole trimmer in with you. Plus, you might find something there that would work better.

I did detach that piece and brought it with me, thats how i found some pieces for my macgyver fix...ill post them when i get home.

I took a Cell phone vid but im having a hard time adding it to my post.
I just wanted to show that i got it working using the drill.
Just have to do it slow and make sure there is not hard stems in there.

The problem seems to be stems getting stuck and messing things up.
Stuff im using is very dry..from what i gather it probably sooo much easier with fresher buds.
When the stems start to get woody, the machine has such a hard time. I also notice that it really makes a hell of a lot of trim..Awesome trim that will be a pleasure to keep
im sure you get less trim when more fresh though. Well see soon i guess...
