playing catch-up here....
Very juicy line-up GTG! I really like that you're dipping into the new-stuff pool like you are,... you know me, I'm a variety slut!I also like how you're trying fast finishers and putting that to the test! .... The grow cage is always Phat-City View attachment 1276998
... new property is quite lovely, looks nice and remote/private as well... What's the water situation?
What's this on the misfires?! I hate that crap.... Duly noted on the Seed Shitty stuff, that's not acceptable at all! Have you barked at them yet?
Did most of this lot come from Seed City, or just some?
I imagine you have other selections to take their place -
It'll be a hoot to finally see Pineapple Poison run outside, ditto for Wild Thai (maybe?)... I hope you get a speedy pheno with the more solid buds, and not a throw-back Thai dom. dragon queen that takes her sweet f'ing time!
amazing your own lil spot of wilderness cant wait to see you grow some trees out there manHey @smokeyfromau
Hey buddy how you been?
I know it's been awhile.
Catching up!!!
So I found some property up North West of me about 155 miles or about 2 hours drive on the hwy

I also found a good place to get great organic soil. That's not too far away from the new property. So I'll be able to get good nutrients up there. It's a composting place called Dairy Doo they're owned by Morgan composting company. But they do everything pretty close to organic and they are organic certified. I'm not sure if everything that they have is all organic certified but they have a whole line of stuff that is organic certified.
I've already started getting things around for up there on the new property.
Well maybe I should explain the new property a little bit first.

So the property is about 30 miles or so west of Ludington Michigan in the middle of the Manistee National Forest. Literally surrounded by thousands and thousands a federally owned Acres. At the very least I have access to about 7,000 Acres. It's no Denali or Yellowstone but it's a big National Forest. I found a 10-acre plot there that will never ever as long as the US government is in control of this area this will never be sold in my life time. It's part of the National Treasure.
(IE. No neighbors ever)
The 10 acres, there was 4 -10 acre plots all together in the middle of the National Forest that were sold many years ago. The property has changed hands a couple of times over the years. But there's no houses.
(All 4-10 ac plots GPS aerial view )
My plot is the lower left 1/4. You can see my only Neighbors and all they're is is 3 campsites with some RVs sitting there. Mine makes 4.View attachment 1273251
There is electricity to 3 of the property's. But there's no electricity to my property. My property is 660 feet off the main road. And I have placed a fifth wheel travel trailer in the very center of the property that is 940 ft from the main road.

The cost to run electricity to the property to where I want electricity ran to is going to be about $3,000. Around 2,000 to 2500 just to put it on the property and then I have to run it myself or have it professionally run back to where I want the electricity to end up at.
So this is what I'm going to do.
The electricity will come from 99% green energy ie. solar / wind And the electric storage batteries are DIY lithium- iron phosphate. These batteries will last for many years. Their estimated to last 10 to 20 years.
The property itself was logged off about 20 years ago, it was clear-cut pretty good all four of the properties were and so I have about a moderate amount a wooded property. every square inch of it has got some kind of tree but they vary in size the property is mostly wooded with White Oaks.
I and couple of friends went up to the property in October and spent the day up there with chainsaws

View attachment 1273267and we cut down a lot of brush and old and diseased trees to open up a good 4 Acres of property. Good enough that I can grow a nice Garden and my 12 legal cannabis plants. I have a bit more cutting to do and brush to move around and make some piles up. But for the most part I'm ready other than to dig the holes and put the good soil in.
I have no water on the property and I'll be punching agricultural well this spring. The township says if I'm going to drill a residential well then I have to put in a residential septic system at least a 2 bedroom sized one. The cheapest cost for that is still around $8,000 and that's doing a lot of the work myself. I'm not going to be living there full-time and I don't see any sense in putting in a residential well and septic system it's not going to be used like that. So a holding tank and agr well will be just fine.
Okay so I guess I'm pretty well caught up with y'all.
My growing techniques will probably be different this year outside than the past.
I have chosen some good seed plants. I believe these will be great plants for growing on this property. I have studied the historical weather maps for this area historical sun data, wind and rain data, that as been gathered over the years. So I got a pretty good idea of how I'm going to grow there. I'm going to maximize my growing by selecting the very best plants that will grow the largest in the shortest amount of time.
I've already selected my seed and the sprouting has began. I'm just doing the final process of selecting the plants that I really want to grow there.
Some of the strains that I have chosen have very large yields expecting of up to 4K on a couple of the plants. So I expect actually to pull about 2k of quality AAA smoke from these plants. I also have some fantastic old school names to run Granddaddy Purple pre 98 Bubba Kush Zkittles Gorilla Glue and I have some others like black sugar and Industrial plant Strawberry Cough Sour Diesel and others. The industrial plant and the strawberry cough Sour Diesel. 2 of the seeds have not sprouted yet of each. Kind of mad about that. I'll check again here in a little bit but if they haven't popped yet I will dry these seeds back out and start another pair of seeds to replace them because those two plants are part of the big picture that I want to grow.
Well I guess I've wasted enough of y'all's time again s*** it's after 11 here a.m. so I got things to do and I've been blowing it off.
Y'all take care thanks again for the warm welcome back.
This is why I love AFN:smoking:
Hey GTG Great to see you back mate ! I has been sometime, i really love what you are doing on the farm to help the grower out.
Ive been pretty well, few problems haha i hurt my back but i am good again, my brothers taught me to lift better. Its great you are doing well.
I love your farm, the plants are going to love it there, nicely selectively cleared. That would be awesome to see a full size plant with 4K of bud on her, Having no neighbours means no prying eyes so they can grow as large as they wish. The farm girls will go by natural light? or still get light dep. I left the long bloomers to natural light and others light dep. Good idea to study the climate records of the farm, Good idea using solar , save costs in the long run
AFN...
Here We Go Again the 2021 grow season is here and its time to make the cutts.
It seems like I've been doing this for quite a bit Every year on Afn since 2016. Afn is a great Growers community.
Im growing organically inside to grow outside organically as I always do. 99.9% organic always.
A lot of different strains to grow this year and evaluate. Long ways to go and a short time to get there.
I'm not growing very many strains that I've grown before this year. But Only about 4 strains that I know. The rest will be totally new to me.
The reason that is, is because I'm trying to find strains that grow large large yields (2k or more) with high THC and short flower times. And taste good.
I'll be growing mainly outside in a different latitude than what I normally grow at. Im still growing in the backyard grow cage.
I bought a 10 ac plot about 155 miles North of me. That's in a slightly cooler climate with a little bit shorter growing season, about 2 weeks shorter.
But after studying the region really well it actually has a little bit longer sunlight than what I have here, by about 3 minutes a day. Not a big deal but it's still more.
The soil on the new property is complete junk for growing cannabis
It's mostly sandy loam with the little bit of topsoil. But great drainage. The property is covered with White Oaks tree's from one end to the other.View attachment 1275302
I can grow 12 plants legally on this property without any troubles as we are legal to grow 12 plants on any property we own here in Michigan as per the laws of this state. I'm also license to grow I my primary property 24 plants. Legally 12 and flowering and 12 in veg. Giving me a total of 36 plants. And as you all know that each one of those plants can give me a pound or better of quality AAA smoke. Many of you that know me have seen me do it many times before outside and inside.
All the holes that I'll be putting the plants in on this property will all have my custom composted soil in them. This will ensure a good crop no matter what the soil conditions are on that property.
Many of the strains that I've chosen for this year are up to 4 kilos plus of yield with very high THC 25% plus. Many of the strains also have strong lineages. Afghanistan Kush and other major lineage strains from the past are in these genetics that I've chosen for this year.
Enough with the BS I'm going to show you what I'm trying to grow.
Some of these strains are very short flowering time's. And some of these strains will have very long flowering times. The ones that are very long flower time's are just plants that I'm growing inside and they won't be considered for outside unless I have a wild hair up my ass and decide I want to do Light depth in the backyard grow cage again this year.
(If I automate. I have to have a timer and auto roller. I've not bought them yet. I won't be doing light depth in the backyard because I won't have time roll a tarp up and down every night)

The transplant soil and 3 gallon fiber pots
The transplants coil is Fox Farms ocean forest and Happy Frog along with a slew of organic amendments to boost up the three gallon pots for a little bit longer. Of time that these plants can stay in them small pots. I'm going to keep these plants in their pots for about 3 to 7 weeks. I need to take clones often the majority of these plants maybe all of them to find the viable plants that I want to grow outside at the new grow site.

19, 20, 21, 22, 23,
These seeds have not come up yet. And some of them I've tried multiple times to get the seeds to pop. I'm super unhappy with the outcome of these so far.
This has been costly and disappointing to say the least.
I'll start with the worst one so far
Super Lemon Haze breeder Seed City. all the seeds that they sent me have not popped.
Industrial plant Dinafem 3 seeds have not popped.
Strawberry Sour Diesel The Devil's harvest seeds. 3 seeds have not popped out of five.
Wedding cake Pheno Finders and Seed city have not popped and have no more seeds to try out of like 5 between the 2 breeders.
Banana kush White label Seed Company sister Seed Company of Sensi seeds has not popped either. The Banana Kush I've only used one seed thou. I have 2 left.
The inside set up.
Vegging under T5 fluorescent lights 6500k (blue) and more (red) too.
Flowering light
Lighting 315 CMH lights. Variant of spectrum Lighting ratios. 40K, 41k, and far red LEDs in the Spectrum above 680 MN but less than infrared. All on a light mover. Filtered air in, filtered water, organic soil as seen above.
9 pound swiss a few days before Christmas. Do to harvest 2/5/21.
It's also a light test.
Since flip to 12/12 lighting. There has been Over the plant on the right a 41k 315 cmh bulb and over the plant on the left a 40k 315 cmh.
