Outdoor Growtogrow.. Michigan Unlimited multi strain organic grow

Hey man how are y'all doing?:bighug::smokeout: I hope y'all are well. sorry it's been so long:shrug: I've had a lot going on despite the virus and all these folks out of work around here and people taking great precautions protect themselves from this virus. :yoinks:My friend and his family just contracted the virus and now they're in quarantine and have been for the last week or so.

So I started working at a farm where the guy is license to grow 72 plants legally.:smokeit: he hired me to take care of his outside crop where I took care of 28 plants pretty much by myself the farmer who my work for he's not really a great farmer he's actually learning as we goes that's pretty much why I hired me:greenthumb::smokeit: so I've been pretty busy this last summer. I've been putting in about for 5 hours a day 5 and 6 days a week to bring his farm up to par by the time to be ready for harvest. It took a while to harvest even with about eight people trimming it still took almost two whole weeks to harvest it all. He also had an inside crop of 23 plants going at the same time. And harvested around the same exact time as we was harvesting outside.:doh: Like I said he doesn't really have a clue on farming or timing. I'll bet you a hundred bucks though that next year he"ll have a better idea:naughtystep:

Here's a couple pics of the little farm that I was working on

Some PM to fight. The Green Cure was used often. His garden only gets about a good solid 5 hours of direct sunlight the best time of the year. Otherwise it only gets about 4 hours of direct sunlight it's shaded by trees to the East and to the West into the South. Southern Sky allows the garden to get a lot more light but soon as around 4 in the afternoon comes around the west side of his garden is shaded by some very large oak trees. Which cuts down on the UV from the Sun big time and allows the powdery mildew to thrive. So some of the plants were fairly resistant to the p.m. but even those succumb to the powdery mildew towards the last day of harvest. But the green cure you can use that right up tt the day of harvest. We used plant therapy as well but mainly that was earlier on as it has a lot of oils in it for the last few weeks before Harvest.
I wouldn't recommend using it. But the green cure is just a powder residue that falls right off and leaves nothing to the plant to harm you or anything else....

But that was my summer-fall did a lot of trimming as you can imagine a lot a lot of trimming many many many hours spent trimming. I bought scissors for trimming that I think are really excellent scissors as I did not have to clean them hardly at all.
( I trimmed for 2 days without cleaning) They're made by a company called Chickamauga. And the scissors are Japanese steel scissors. they're about 15 or $16 On The Low End to by a pair and you can find some knock-offs that are made here in the US on Amazon I think I paid like 14 bucks for two pair of scissors and they worked equally as well. So I had my own Harvest that I had to do as well by myself. Because the farmer whom I'm working for didn't have enough people so I let him use couple of my people and which cut me out of their time. That's okay I sat here at home and did my own. I only had the five plants. To trim.

Hey GTG :bighug::pass:Your own soil so soil is isnt an issue, and as long as its not too far north as i know the north would be colder.

Must be the covid that people are buying up property to eccape from bad areas maybe? or investments no idea lol, on the buying crazy. true where is the cash coming from. I do hope you can find one that you like before they vulture in on it.

Your girls are looking super and i see Tyson likes to help out or well observe lol and keep outside.
Where did Growtogrow go?
Still trimming maybe? :)

good to see you buddy you have been busy your new work place looks cool huge plants if he keeps you around im sure next years will be double that :d5:
your caged plants are amazing looking :headbang:

Hey thanks guys it's really good to hear y'all or I guess read you.. LOL.. :bighug: :smokeout::cheers:

Thanks... Yep the OG fire Kush and the chemberry D are awesome plants. Great producers great flavor great Buzz.
They both yielded a pound-and-a-half easily of quality bud. That's not including all the under trim stuff. I had sent all that trim out to make wax.
I had almost 5 pounds between those 2 plants and the other 3 plants I had out in the other cage, that was nowhere near the size of these plants and a little bit of fresh Frozen that I had down in my freezer from the earlier Harvest. I sent it all out and had it professionally processed to make wax or dab. I got it back and out of that stuff that I mite have tossed out.
I got about a hundred and fifteen grams of nicely packaged Jar's of wax.

I've got next year's crop or I guess this year's crop incubating right now. I started 24 different strains 21 of them have come to life and are above ground. Soon be transplanting to the 3 gallon pots hard plastic and then go and grow until I can take clones off them. Once I have the Clones plant will go into flower and I'll save the Clones back and then decide which plants don't want to grow in this year's Garden outside.
20201217_233416.jpg

20201228_093631.jpg
20210104_131124.jpg
they are growing very fast I've only got about another day or so and I'll have to get them into the pots. To keep them growing fast so I can take clones. I bought a small air cloner. It's supposed to be around 99% successful of getting good clones. Because I had such a hard time cloning this spring and with the seeds. I'm really hoping that this works as good as what my buddy's works. He has super success with his clones.
So after taking the Clones I'll put all the seed mothers into the flower room and then I'll be able to tell which smoke is the best and how long each plants flowering time is to reach the state of Amber that I look for. And rather I can grow them outside in a more Northern latitude than what I am right now. Without using light deprivation.

Growing a couple of clones call nine pound Swiss that the guy I work for grows. They're somebody's genetics from around here. I put them into flower about 4 or 5 weeks ago

And are do to harvest around the 5th of February.

I'm also doing a bit of a light experiment at the same time.

So since they been in flower the plant on the right hand side has a more red light over a 30k 315 CMH bulb
20201230_162620_(1).jpg

The plant on the left hand side has a light that has a little bit more blue in it it is a 40K bulb 315 CMH.
20201230_162648_(1).jpg

You can see some difference in the 2 plants. The plant on the right hand side or the one has the more red over it.
The red plant has had to be trimmed 2 * more than the plant that has the more blue light over it..in the same amount of time.
Bear in mind both plants are exactly the same clones from the same mother donor.
They've both been fed exactly the same things same water and soil contents are exactly the same...
The only difference is...the light...

I guess I've bullshitted long enough LOL

I tried to do this yesterday and forgot how LOL. Anyways I got it figured out now.
It's been a long time I guess 4 months. I forgot how to do a lot of things. Lol... I just noticed that I'm not a global monitor anymore???
I really didn't know what it was anyways LOL. LOL.....:pop::smokeit::naughtystep::headbang::yoinks: Anyways I got my work cut out for me this year.

Hey @smokeyfromau

Hey buddy how you been?

I know it's been awhile.

Catching up!!!

So I found some property up North West of me about 155 miles or about 2 hours drive on the hwy

I also found a good place to get great organic soil. That's not too far away from the new property. So I'll be able to get good nutrients up there. It's a composting place called Dairy Doo they're owned by Morgan composting company. But they do everything pretty close to organic and they are organic certified. I'm not sure if everything that they have is all organic certified but they have a whole line of stuff that is organic certified.
I've already started getting things around for up there on the new property.

Well maybe I should explain the new property a little bit first.
Capture+_2020-08-29-06-38-10_(1).png
Capture+_2020-08-29-06-38-25_(1).png

So the property is about 30 miles or so west of Ludington Michigan in the middle of the Manistee National Forest. Literally surrounded by thousands and thousands a federally owned Acres. At the very least I have access to about 7,000 Acres. It's no Denali or Yellowstone but it's a big National Forest. I found a 10-acre plot there that will never ever as long as the US government is in control of this area this will never be sold in my life time. It's part of the National Treasure.
(IE. No neighbors ever) :woohoo:
The 10 acres, there was 4 -10 acre plots all together in the middle of the National Forest that were sold many years ago. The property has changed hands a couple of times over the years. But there's no houses.

(All 4-10 ac plots GPS aerial view )
My plot is the lower left 1/4. You can see my only Neighbors and all they're is is 3 campsites with some RVs sitting there. Mine makes 4.
There is electricity to 3 of the property's. But there's no electricity to my property. My property is 660 feet off the main road. And I have placed a fifth wheel travel trailer in the very center of the property that is 940 ft from the main road.
20201005_151717.jpg

20201209_125503.jpg

20201101_212706.jpg

20201106_161440.jpg

The cost to run electricity to the property to where I want electricity ran to is going to be about $3,000. Around 2,000 to 2500 just to put it on the property and then I have to run it myself or have it professionally run back to where I want the electricity to end up at.

So this is what I'm going to do.
The electricity will come from 99% green energy ie. solar / wind And the electric storage batteries are DIY lithium- iron phosphate. These batteries will last for many years. Their estimated to last 10 to 20 years.

The property itself was logged off about 20 years ago, it was clear-cut pretty good all four of the properties were and so I have about a moderate amount a wooded property. every square inch of it has got some kind of tree but they vary in size the property is mostly wooded with White Oaks.
I and couple of friends went up to the property in October and spent the day up there with chainsaws
20201004_123544.jpg

20201010_184014.jpg
and we cut down a lot of brush and old and diseased trees to open up a good 4 Acres of property. Good enough that I can grow a nice Garden and my 12 legal cannabis plants. I have a bit more cutting to do and brush to move around and make some piles up. But for the most part I'm ready other than to dig the holes and put the good soil in.
I have no water on the property and I'll be punching agricultural well this spring. The township says if I'm going to drill a residential well then I have to put in a residential septic system at least a 2 bedroom sized one. The cheapest cost for that is still around $8,000 and that's doing a lot of the work myself. I'm not going to be living there full-time and I don't see any sense in putting in a residential well and septic system it's not going to be used like that. So a holding tank and agr well will be just fine.

Okay so I guess I'm pretty well caught up with y'all.

My growing techniques will probably be different this year outside than the past.

I have chosen some good seed plants. I believe these will be great plants for growing on this property. I have studied the historical weather maps for this area historical sun data, wind and rain data, that as been gathered over the years. So I got a pretty good idea of how I'm going to grow there. I'm going to maximize my growing by selecting the very best plants that will grow the largest in the shortest amount of time.
:woohoo:  :headbang:I've already selected my seed and the sprouting has began. I'm just doing the final process of selecting the plants that I really want to grow there.
Some of the strains that I have chosen have very large yields expecting of up to 4K on a couple of the plants. So I expect actually to pull about 2k of quality AAA smoke from these plants. I also have some fantastic old school names to run Granddaddy Purple pre 98 Bubba Kush Zkittles Gorilla Glue and I have some others like black sugar and Industrial plant Strawberry Cough Sour Diesel and others. The industrial plant and the strawberry cough Sour Diesel. 2 of the seeds have not sprouted yet of each. Kind of mad about that. I'll check again here in a little bit but if they haven't popped yet I will dry these seeds back out and start another pair of seeds to replace them because those two plants are part of the big picture that I want to grow.

Well I guess I've wasted enough of y'all's time again s*** it's after 11 here a.m. so I got things to do and I've been blowing it off.

Y'all take care thanks again for the warm welcome back.
This is why I love AFN:bighug::cheers::smokeout::smoking:

AFN... :worship: :bighug::smokeout::welcome:

Here We Go Again the 2021 grow season is here and its time to make the cutts. :amazon:

It seems like I've been doing this for quite a bit :yay:Every year on Afn since 2016. Afn is a great Growers community.:ladies:

Im growing organically inside to grow outside organically as I always do. 99.9% organic always.

A lot of different strains to grow this year and evaluate. Long ways to go and a short time to get there.

I'm not growing very many strains that I've grown before this year. But Only about 4 strains that I know. The rest will be totally new to me.
The reason that is, is because I'm trying to find strains that grow large large yields (2k or more) with high THC and short flower times. And taste good.

I'll be growing mainly outside in a different latitude than what I normally grow at. Im still growing in the backyard grow cage.
I bought a 10 ac plot about 155 miles North of me. That's in a slightly cooler climate with a little bit shorter growing season, about 2 weeks shorter.
But after studying the region really well it actually has a little bit longer sunlight than what I have here, by about 3 minutes a day. Not a big deal but it's still more.

The soil on the new property is complete junk for growing cannabis:face::doh::cuss::finger:
It's mostly sandy loam with the little bit of topsoil. But great drainage. The property is covered with White Oaks tree's from one end to the other.
Capture+_2020-08-29-06-38-10_(1).png

I can grow 12 plants legally on this property without any troubles as we are legal to grow 12 plants on any property we own here in Michigan as per the laws of this state. I'm also license to grow I my primary property 24 plants. Legally 12 and flowering and 12 in veg. Giving me a total of 36 plants. And as you all know that each one of those plants can give me a pound or better of quality AAA smoke. Many of you that know me have seen me do it many times before outside and inside.
All the holes that I'll be putting the plants in on this property will all have my custom composted soil in them. This will ensure a good crop no matter what the soil conditions are on that property.

Many of the strains that I've chosen for this year are up to 4 kilos plus of yield with very high THC 25% plus. Many of the strains also have strong lineages. Afghanistan Kush and other major lineage strains from the past are in these genetics that I've chosen for this year.

Enough with the BS I'm going to show you what I'm trying to grow.

Some of these strains are very short flowering time's. And some of these strains will have very long flowering times. The ones that are very long flower time's are just plants that I'm growing inside and they won't be considered for outside unless I have a wild hair up my ass and decide I want to do Light depth in the backyard grow cage again this year.

(If I automate. I have to have a timer and auto roller. I've not bought them yet. I won't be doing light depth in the backyard because I won't have time roll a tarp up and down every night)

The transplant soil and 3 gallon fiber pots
The transplants coil is Fox Farms ocean forest and Happy Frog along with a slew of organic amendments to boost up the three gallon pots for a little bit longer. Of time that these plants can stay in them small pots. I'm going to keep these plants in their pots for about 3 to 7 weeks. I need to take clones often the majority of these plants maybe all of them to find the viable plants that I want to grow outside at the new grow site.

19, 20, 21, 22, 23,
These seeds have not come up yet. And some of them I've tried multiple times to get the seeds to pop.:face::redcard::finger::cuss::frowny::fire: I'm super unhappy with the outcome of these so far.

This has been costly and disappointing to say the least.

I'll start with the worst one so far

Super Lemon Haze breeder Seed City. all the seeds that they sent me have not popped.

Industrial plant Dinafem 3 seeds have not popped.

Strawberry Sour Diesel The Devil's harvest seeds. 3 seeds have not popped out of five.

Wedding cake Pheno Finders and Seed city have not popped and have no more seeds to try out of like 5 between the 2 breeders.

Banana kush White label Seed Company sister Seed Company of Sensi seeds has not popped either. The Banana Kush I've only used one seed thou. I have 2 left.

The inside set up.
Vegging under T5 fluorescent lights 6500k (blue) and more (red) too.
Flowering light
Lighting 315 CMH lights. Variant of full spectrum Lighting ratios. 30k more red and 40k more blue and far red LEDs in the Spectrum 700 nm but less than infrared. All on a light mover. Filtered air in, filtered water, organic soil as seen above.

9 pound swiss a few days before Christmas. Do to harvest 2/5/21.
It's also a light test.
Since flip to 12/12 lighting. There has been Over the plant on the right a 30k 315 cmh bulb and over the plant on the left a 40k 315 cmh.

Well that's about it for now.:chimp:
I'll update this probably about once a week or so for those of you who like to follow:thumbsup::welcome::headbang::bighug:. I'll be very glad to have you all along for my 2021 grow season. Inside to outside.

Thanks for stopping
GTG
