Grow your own in the outdoor heat, maybe Australia!!

I can't talk for anyone else but I'm pretty confused about how to grow a monster photo outdoors in our lighting hrs :coffee2:. If they trigger into bloom at 14.5 hrs of light how do we get a long enough veg period to get a large plant like @Weed Warrior grows?
GB, I thought the issue was how readily they trigger into bloom? Plants here grow just fine outside, into monsters, and 14/10 is the best we get for total ,light hours,....

well, it's only this last season that I had the tent to start them in, before that they got a little supp' lighting for a week or so, then outside full time, just kept out of the cold until near transplant time... but as I mentioned, they got under 2 weeks of above current light hours, before i started easing them down to actual even hours, while still too immature to trigger..?
...yeah , GP and all of them! GP, and the other FV's all started bloom before the reg's, but not by much in most cases,... mid-late Aug., it's about 13 hours 20min. (looked up my actual max, it's 14h 40min at solstice)

Sorry if this is a dumbass question @Waira but I really struggle with understanding this :face:

Thats where i keep steering toward tropical sativas...they need soooooo much more darkness to flower...with losing only 1 minute a day of daylight, thats alot of veg growing from the longest day of 14 hours to their "preflower trigger" (which may be 12.5-13 hours) Losing 1 minute a day would mean 60-90 veg period, not including the increasing regime. Far more veg than i get!! (15.5 on the longest day but i lose 2-3 minutes daily)

So i get
60 days indoors planted on june the first under 24 hours (indoors night and outdoors day during day 40-60)
21st of june the longest daylight hours
Most of the early strains i choose start to flower early-mid july

So i have a full veg period(seedling included) of 90 days.

Timed right, with the right strains, you guys could have a longer veg period than i do!!

GB, I think the local "acclimatizing" effect is in strong control, I have never had any plant go into bloom with that amount of light hours,... see above post! My plants go outside in late may/june, when it's already 14+ hours light,... they trigger bloom apparently when that dips to about 13 and change....

Excellent information on this waira....great insight for me on southern climates, and it makes more sense now to me as well. So....do you feel the majority of strains (in an increasing light regime) could safely be put outdoors in 13 hours of daylight and not trigger into flower too early? This could explain how a southern climate is certainly feasible to grow massive plants(as we all know is possible, due to pics Ive seen of beasts). A long flower period with a solid veg period of 120 days or more would definitely produce massive plants.

yes, as long as the light is increasing,.... I think in part your girls run longer because of the weather/cool,... I'm still amazed and impressed my friend at how well you do up there! :headbang:

Ok so I think I'm slowly getting it, just because a given strain starts to flower at 14.5 hours light at Weed Warrior's house doesn't mean that it will take the same amount of daylight hrs to trigger flowering at my house? It may not flower until light hrs are say 13.4 at my joint? In theory I can grow the same strains as him and end up with big plants still? I must be driving you guys insane sorry:chimp:
