Welcome to afn .also.there are some wonderful light companys on here with grow reports by members with grow logs .

Thanks Dankstyle! I'm browsing these forums like a mad man to try and soak as much knowledge as possible before I start. Thanks for the tip. I will check them out.

That sounds like a really good option for me down the road. If the first harvest works out I will be putting a good chunk back into my grow area. Then really get things cookin'

Already enjoying my stay here man. Seems like a really helpful and cool group of people. I actually grabbed some Devil Cream by Sweetseeds for this first grow. Should be fun.

Sounds like an awesome strain,I'm a big big mehpisto genetics fan really enjoy their autos

Hey everyone, brand new to the site and growing in general. I am putting together a 4'x4'x7' grow tent and have a few quick questions about the setup I am thinking of building. There is alot of information out there and everyone seems to have varrying opinions, to a degree. So I'm hoping to get some of my questions answered here. I completely apologize if these questions seem newbish but I really want to do this right so I'm trying to cover all ground for the best harvest (if any at all lol).

First off, the setup I wish to go with

Roughly 4'x4'x7 Grow Tent'-

So there is the general setup I would like to go with. It comes out to around $400-500 depending on the fluctuating prices. So here are my questions.

1. Is this setup or any parts of this setup overkill or underkill for 4-6 autoflower plants?

2. Does my booster fan need to be the same size as my inline fan? (Ex.6" Inline with 6" booster)

3. Is there anything else missing from this setup that I forgot to add? (I am picking up a oscilating fan and temp/humidy reader)

4.Would it be easier to grow in Coco with that setup or organic soil? Full hydro isn't an option at this pont.

Any help is appretiated. I am trying to stay on a budget of $400-600 so if you guys have suggestions to save me some cash or future proof myself whilst staying in the budget, let me know. Thanks guys and please be patient with me. Brand new but doing research as best as possible. It is quite overwhelming. Especially with every grower having different methods that work for them.

The space can get eaten up very quickly so strain choice is paramount along with the size container you use. I would go with 3 gallon pots just to give you wiggle room. The light is not overkill anything more is another thing to consider is where the tent will placed because the environment in the tent changes whether it be a small or large difference. You don't want it in a place that is too cold or too hot either way you are looking at control issues with heat and humidity and maybe at this time of the year it could be not enough heat generated once again depending on where the tent is. I had a 4x4x7 in my spare bedroom and it was somewhat easy to control the temps. I now have a tent twice as large but the environment has been harder to dial in but it helps having gone through it. That MH will take more energy and will put out more heat.

You will need ph up and down a meter or color drops(stay away from those if you can they are a pain in the ass) and trimmers. Of course buckets, soil, and nutrients, drip pans and think about a dehumidifier because you may need one along with a small desk fan for some airflow and a humidifier if needed. The humidifier and dehumidifier are things that most likely you will need. Here is one I use for my 4x4 and I still use it in my large tent 8x4x8 I just use 2https://www.walmart.com/ip/Vicks-Warm-Steam-Vaporizer-V150SG2UPC/15423529?action=product_interest&action_type=title&beacon_version=1.0.2&bucket_id=irsbucketdefault&client_guid=c8f3574b-7c01-4fda-8c6f-7dfeb6c36043&config_id=106&customer_id_enc&findingMethod=p13n&guid=c8f3574b-7c01-4fda-8c6f-7dfeb6c36043&item_id=15423529&parent_anchor_item_id=10316298&parent_item_id=10316298&placement_id=irs-106-t1&reporter=recommendations&source=new_site&strategy=PWVUB&visitor_id=Yywk0xVWc56mhbpKwyPbDQ Here is the dehumidifierhttps://www.aosom.com/homcom-portable-compact-mini-air-dehumidifier-white-and-orange.html For that space this will work but you are going to have to figure out a way to get it above the canopy for it to work because it is a small unit. These are some ideas. You can run it and pick these things up as you need them. If 2 out of the three get big then the room will disappear and humidity during flowering is an issue with out taking moisture out if the air. Long winded answer I know but I thought I would cover the things I ran into in my first grow. Also cocoa is much more involved than soil and there are a lot of things that can go wrong. I would go soil or if you are feeling really confident then there is a cocoa forum here which tells me it is more involved that a new grower needs to deal with. Have a great grow. Here ya go for asking and landing here at AFN Welcome:slap:

Awesome. That does look very simple. So x2 inline duct fans will give me the same results as that 6" inline and save me $60? Sounds like a win win to me.
Pretty much yeah those big fans are loud and expensive. I always use inlines. But other people will say something different. Its honestly up to you and how much money you have to play with.

Whenever I look up autos Mephisto always pops up in most discussions. Every try their super soil? Still unsure which way to go in terms of my growing medium. Leaning towards the

Thanks alot for the response! I was planning on putting a small space heater (without lights/coils) in the tent as I can't heat up the actual room at the moment. The person I asked at the hydro shop told me that would be ok if I kept the heater on the small side. I'm in Massachusetts so the temp is getting pretty low around here. I also tried to grab a thin and taller strain compared to short and fat. Which is why I went with the Devil Cream for seeds. From the few grows I saw they tend to be taller than fatter. I'm fully leaning towards organic soil after doing some more research. Coco just seems like a bit much to handle for my first grow. Lots of variables like you metioned and I'd like to keep everything as simple as possible, at least the first time. Humidifier for sure. That was definetly something on the list along with the actual pots, dirt, ect.

Haven't tried there super soil ,lots of folks have got good results off it though
