New Grower Grow #2 - The education continues

This is my 2nd attempt at growing autos, so hoping the lessons learned from #1 will be improved this time around. The first grow was not a failure but I defin made some mistakes and didn’t get the amount or quality I would have liked.
I wanted to make sure I was successfully growing before I started this journal.

My setup is indoor in my basement. Keeping pretty consistent 77F and 53% RH.
Opulent Systems 32x32x64 tent
Phlizon Cree Cob 1000w led light
Layond 4” ventilation
3 Gallon fabric pots on risers
Coast of Maine Stonington blend soil amended with perlite, Coco and mychorizae
6” oscillating fan

This grow will be one each of Mephisto 3 Bears OG and ILGM Zkittlez

Both seeds were put into water on 9/7/21 for 24 hour soak then into jiffy pellets.
Both seeds sprouted within 8 hours of each other after about 36 hours.
I planted into the fabric pots after 4 days post sprout.

Now at day 21.
so far I’ve only been watering with distilled water.
I have been preparing and ph balancing tap water that has been sitting for a week to clear all the chlorine.
I have also started some gentle LST.
These pictures were taken 2 days ago and they are literally exploding since these pics were taken.

Day 28 and everything is chugging along nicely. The Mephisto 3 Bears OG is showing its superior genetics IMO. I’m thinking both are very close to showing the first evidence of flower, so I’ll be adding some nutes once they do. The big thing I’m noticing with this 2nd grow how the pH can creep up if left unattended. I’m closely monitoring the soil pH and adjusting the water pH to lower it and it seems to be working.

You can also see the yellow sticky traps. I have had a persistent fungus gnat issue, but it is not causing any issues that I can see and I think I am catching most of them.

This will probably be the last soil grow I do as I want to move to Autopots next time around and will go coco/perlite but will have to clean everything out before then and wipe those little suckers out once and for all.

Nice looking plants!

I'm currently running an autopot xl 6 and two dwc bubble buckets. Love both setups but still prefer the simplicity and ease of soil/coco. Autopot is probably the best of both worlds tbh.

Now at Day 35 and looking good still. Continuing with gentle LST and begun feeding for early flower.
One change to the tent was the 6” oscillating fan died and I replaced with a tower oscillating fan.

One week later and day 42. Everything still seems to be moving along nicely. I have started on light feeding of the ILGM Flowertime fertilizer at 50% strength and only using it every 3rd day . I am also pH adjusting all the water to about 6.5. These are the only changes I’ve made so far in this grow compared to the first and it seems like it is making a difference in how they look. My last grow I definitely experienced some nute def which I did not recognize as a noob. The color and leaves definitely look more like what I see from other grows I’ve been following. Lights are on 18/6 schedule.

On a second topic, I have just gotten a new 2x4 tent and have gotten 2 Atreum Hydra 1000 lights which I will setup and use for grow #3 when these are done. I will have more confidence growing 2 plants in the 2x4 with 2 lights vs trying to grow 2 in my 32x32 tent even though the current light is just barely enough. I really don’t need to grow more than 2 but I like growing 2 different strains just to see what I can get.
This is becoming quite an obsession for me.

Day 49. The 3BOG is stacking up like crazy. I’ll Say it again I’m really impressed with the Mephisto. I will try another strain from them next time (probably Double Grape) as I already have some seeds, but will start getting more from them for the future.

I hope these 2 ladies keep growing like they are
