Just became legal here, getting ready to start growing again, it has been quite a few years and I had no clue about the state of genetics these days. I am 72 and have been smoking for around 50 yrs although I've been thru numerous non-smoking periods. I've seen a number of online resources and this forum looks like a good place to find info so here comes a new user.

We have a small house in a sparsely populated rural area along the south shore of Lake Superior. My back yard has a nice southern exposure and great sunlight for over 3 months of the year so I'll take a stab at some outdoor growing as well as set up a small indoor grow. This won't happen for several months yet as we are living elsewhere over the winter... if I had known that weed would become legal we probably would have made other plans.

My wife and I are both retired and living on social security, I was self employed my entire civilian career after leaving the army in 1979 w/13yrs service, had first kid and didn't want to say in uniform. My retirement savings were wiped out when the tech bubble burst just before y2k, but I was able to raise 3 kids and come away debt free into retirement so life is good although the budget is so lean that cost of electricity will motivate me to maximize my outdoor growing opportunity! (and minimize my indoor setup)

I am thinking I will maximize the veg growth on the auto plants under a LED indoors then move them outdoors for flowering. I have quite a bit of time to plan before I can get started, but I am buying some seed inventory now. We are allowed 12 plants and so far I've ordered 11 seeds, if just half of them flourish I should have enough smoke to last thru next winter.

oops I tend to ramble when I post, sorry 'bout that....

:welcome: Hi @yooper and welcome to AFN! :welcome:

Congrats on legalization! :d5: It kind of makes me want to move back where I grew up, (not exactly where I grew up .. Detroit), as I got a brother in Lincoln Park. Btw, my family use to vacation in the UP every summer. Whitefish bay a few times, but mostly a little camp ground not far from Engadine. :greencheck:

Welcome! My granddad came from Atlantic Mine and proud of it. Copper mining country at the turn of the century:welcome:. Resilient folks you yoopers.
Lovely place to grow but a short season for sure.
I plan to return to my roots in Mich. to retire lakeside with a dozen goin too. Not so far north however. Tawas maybe.
Wish you much success! Keep in mind (you are close to my vintage) the potency in these girls is on another level . Likely great for what ails you.
Great group of folks to lend a hand here and no time like the present to start growing.

Greetings I am from the great state of Michigan myself. New to growing or not you've chosen the right place to start. Good luck and feel free to tag me in your grows I'd love to follow along.
