Today I'm at 5.5 weeks into the grow. Was on another site giving weekly updates and asking for advice but it appears I may have committed a faux pas by asking site "gurus" to support their claims about not training Autos, i.e., they don't respond well to LST, that it would decrease my yields, their Autos "just let them go". I got the response of "live and learn" with no backup to their claims. So I guess I'm some sort of pariah now.

This is what I have now. Doing some LST buy simply tying back to get more colas going.

Having a problem with heat in the tent. I have a 170cfm inline vent fan going 24/7 (for 80 cf of tent space) and all the bottom ventilation flaps open on the tent. Can't pipe any A/C to it. So I was thinking, since my light ballast is dimmable, set it at 50% and shorten the light distance to the plants by half. Make any sense?

There’s no real right or wrong way to grow. Some methods are more successful than others but with hundreds of strains and hundreds of environments to grow in each person finds there own path. The nice part of AFN is that lots of people experiment to try things that are against the norm and openly share there experiences with that strain and that environment.

I do whatever my plant tells me it needs. Usually that is LST, some times light defol sometimes heavy and occasionally top them. Never really know until they pop out of that shell and start looking for love.

Good luck with your grow.

Light intensity is not linear. Half the distance half the power might not be exact. Watch for burn. If it was me I’d drop to 50% power and lower about 25% (3/4 of where they are) first day and then a bit more each day until I saw the edges ever so slightly begin to have a serated edge then back up a smidge. You might end up slightly below 50% height but it’s safer then dropping all at once. Or download a cheap lux meter and check at current canopy and duplicate that at a new level.

Week 6. I got a few new bud sites :cooldance: I believe I'll back off on the LST for now and do any adjusting that's needed to keep the canopy even. I'm kind of concerned about plant height. They're about 9" tall but I've been doing a lot of bending over the last 2 weeks. The main stems are fairly thick at around 1/2"

You are literally in the exact same place as me with flowering right now and my girls are from 10-13 in in vertical height. I did lst and I'll continue to lst. I don't see a reason not to unless I want a massive main cola and popcorn everywhere else. I went for even canopy and fingers crossed that the side branching will at least put up a fight and compete with the main branch.
