New Grower Gorilla Glue Autos in a 4x4 tent. New grower. Advice welcomed.

i agree ,,we dont need run -off,,,they looking ok,,perhaps its loojing a bit paranoid about all the attention you giving it :cool1: :toke:

Have we a plan? ,,have you read through a few threads who use similar feeds soils etc or we are winging it :smoking:,,,

Have a good day pal if you an xmas person :d5:

The life cycle of the fungus gnat has eggs hatching every 5 days. So to effectively rid the soil of viable larva you need to treat Bti every 5 days. The larva live in the top 2 inches of soil so deep water in the first treatment then you only need to treat the top 2 inches every 5 days after that. Use Yellow sticky traps to capture and kill as many adults as you can. If you can use panty hose to cover the top of the pot and prevent the adults from getting to the soil the process will go faster. The Bti can be mixed right into your regular nutrients without issue.

I know it was suggested to use H²o² but that is hard on your good soil microbes. I would hold off on that. It will kill the eggs but at a high price.

Ive been judging it by lifting my pots and sticking my finger in the soil to gauge how dry the soil is.

After watering with about 2-3 cups this morning it looks a lot better now.
I really think i need to add yucca powder to all my soil.

Merry xmas! :)

I use that dr bronners peppermint castile soap cuz just like 8-10 drops mixed into your water works as a surfactant! Also mixing it in at a ratio of 1tbsp per liter of work works as an insecticidal soap and will help rid your pots of bug buildups! I got fungus gnats in my 2x4 this current run but I was willing to sacrifice some microbe life for a quick extermination so used h2o2 and then diatomaceous earth and borrow watered next couple waterings and killed em off quicker then ever!

Also if u haven’t applied any nematodes are an awesome remedy and/or preventative as they keep multiplying as long as they have a good source! I had applied few months back in my 4x4 in my big pots and even tho I got them in my 2x4 I never found 1 inside the big tent just couple feet away and the pots inside are living soil pots and stay way more moist then most pots!

I will say @Mañ'O'Green has much more experience and knowledge then I do so I’d go with his recommendations I just wanted to share what worked for me! Plants are looking good otherwise!:d5:

Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate the information.

I started looking into options for nematodes.
What is a good “source” for the nematodes? Would they just die out after the gnats are gone?

Would it be over kill to use BTI and nematodes?
I already have some mosquito dunks en route, so that will be my first remedy

Merry xmas everyone!

Not at all u can use both as the nematodes will take 2-3 weeks to start killing them off and multiplying into a population that’ll keep them from coming back! I’d apply nematodes and topdress the mosquito bits and I’d reapply them every 5 days for few treatments worth and by then between the 2 u should be pretty well cleared up if not all gone! If not gone u can reapply the mosquito bits til they are and the nematodes will be a preventative to keep em from coming back!

And I order the SF nematodes from arbicoorganics.com good price and they do free shipping! Plus unlike ones off amazon (most not all) but these are live nematodes u gotta apply within 2 weeks or I imagine they’ll start dying off! Come in a styrofoam box inside a cardboard box with a refrigerated pack in it to keep em cool during transport! Prob won’t now since winter and cold out but how my last ones came in September!

Also make sure u keep yellow sticky cards out during this whole process to trap adults! Never tried it but seen it said that Melissa oil added to the sticky cards will actually attract them to the card so you can trap a lot more adults to keep em from laying eggs and keeping the cycle going!

Awesome info, thanks.

I’ll need to look into melissa oil too!

I’ll check those nematodes out.
About how many should i look at getting for five 5-gal pots? 5 million sounds like enough lol.

I see they have nemATTACK, and nemSEEK.
Should i be looking at nemATTACK?
