Indoor Gavita pro 300 lep plasma or led

Hi guys,

I know theres loads of threads on here about lights etc but I am struggling to find a thread on a certain plasma that I am thinking about buying.

I have been doing some research for my first grow and want to get the best gear strait off from the start the tent and fans seem allot less important than the lights where everyone has different opinions

The first question is do plasmas give off heat? I know led lights dont give off hardly any heat at all from what I can see.

If I buy a GAVITA PRO 300 LEP PLASMA for £999 I want it to be right infact I would need four thats 4k damn, anyway like I said I have some money saved up and want to get the best setup and not s**t myself everytime a chopper flys over the house.

There are so many sellers that are selling Led lights just take a look at ebay I really dont want to get stung and end up with load of s**t lights and waste money. I heard blackstar are good but here in the UK I would have to import them from the US and that costs allot of money. I have seen cheaper lights made in china etc and really I cant tell the difference they all look very similar and people cant say dont buy from china as most of or electronics are made in china look at phillips etc.

I have seen the setup seymour buds is using and he is getting amazing results but my question is what to go for, LED or PLASMA I have been told that the plasmas are what they are using in holand to grow and I guess they would know whats best. but there are so many mixed reports I cant make my mind up so I thought I would just ask some simple questions.

1: Do plasma give off heat ( will they leave a heat signature)?

2: Anyone using Plasma on here to give me some info?

3: Would a 300w Plasma give a better yeild than a 600w hps?

4: Whats most cost effective

It would be great if someone could let me know some basics on PLASMAS and if they leave a heat signature from what I can see they cost more than LED so hopefully better.

Good point. Blackstars are great. Never heard anything about the plasma panels though they might be awesome.

Yes thats what I have been looking at for LEDS the blackstar they have many differend LEDS they really look the business and from what I can see they offer good warrentie etc.

I just want to know what best for my grows Plasmas or LED I am pretty sure that the Plasmas are gonna give off heat just by looking at them, however the Blackstars have great results on this site I could get four 900w for cheaper than 4x plasmas at £999 each nearlly half the price, probably have to pay 20% vat extra at customs :-(

I just want to get the best setup from the word go and also not worry about choppers :-(

Plasma lights are designed to have a lot of green and yellow light -- they are broad spectrum. It would take more wattage with a plasma to grow as well as a good-quality LED.

LEDs are tailored more closely to produce light in wavelengths plants can use.

Plasma lights are more tailored to produce high lumens (light people can see.)

J TaNg I had a look at your grow diary you got some awesome grows going on there I am a noob so I really enjoyed reading your diary.

I am even more confused than I was now :-( Now I really dont know what lights to go for , My head is saying go with the Leds but which ones shall I get notherngrow or Blackstar from the states?

Blackstar sound like they have great warrenties etc I will give Northerngrow a call and see if they can do me some lights for what I want

You get a 1 year warrenty with the Blackstar and 3 years with the Grownorthern and there brighter than the Blackstar Classic also take into consideration blackstar don't state actual power draw so the 240w is actually only 133w.
