Indoor Flood & Drain Grow

@HydroGrower Welcome to AFN. To get someone’s attention put the at-mark @ in front of their AFN name like I did for you. @archie gemmill will be tagging you with some important AFN information.

I cannot get a perspective on the size of your cubes? The biggest potential problem in a flood and drain is that if the flood does not completely flood over the top of the cubes; you will get a toxic salt build-up at the water line. To alleviate this potential problem water/fertigate over the top of the cubes once a week. The idea is to rinse out the salts from the cube. Good luck and Happy Growing.
@Mañ'O'Green thank you so much for the insight that is very helpful. Water then with just plain phed tapwater? I hope these cubes are not to big I do have 4x4x4 I could switch to before I transplant. I just thought it would be better to have more roots.

Actually the GroDan Hugo 6" cubes are the ones I use. I do not do flood and drain anymore. I have moved to a drip to waste system.

No, not plain water use the water out of your reservoir with the PHed nutrients you are using at that time. That is why I called it fertigation. I also use some Mykos (microbial inoculate) when I transplant. My current grow may have some useful tips https://www.autoflower.org/threads/short-stuff-magic-strains-zambeza.69239/

75 hours into germination. Took the dome off and turned on led grow light. 2 have fully sprouted 1 is poking up and the last one is still below the rockwool a bit. Gonna transplant in the morning hopefully they'll all be ready to go by then.

Hey @Mañ'O'Green I'm switching to grodan here soon doing a top feed drain to waste and am wondering if you got any tips about using grodan. I know the basics but I'm still unclear on the best nutrients for rockwool. I use AN sensi ph perfect and have a great feeding scedual for coco and am wondering if I can keep the same feeding with the Rockwood. And what's the best size cubes should I stay 6x6 or go with the slabs?

How big do you want your plants to grow. Autos are good in 6" Hugos. If you intend to grow photoperiod plants and want to SCROG just one or two plants Big Mama 8" cubes or slabs your choice.

I am using FloraFlex caps now and really like them. I use a precision drip to waste system I learned from the GroDan Rep. This is copied from an earlier thread and I have adjusted it some but this is a good place to start:
