If you want a simple approach to a medium I have been using coco coir and perlite mix for over a year and its given me great harvests for my autos. I use coco coir bricks ($7.99 for 3 bricks) and Vivogro perlite. I soak the bricks in a 5gal home depot bucket with tap water for about 15mins and then using a metal strainer i scoop out the medium and rinse it with the shower setting on my hose and place the now rinsed coco in a separate bucket. After doing the whole bag you will find rocks and sand in the bottom of the buckey and shit you dont want in your medium. I then add 25% perlite to the bucket with coco 75% and add 3 gals of water along with 1/2cup of cal mag and let it sit in my garage for 24hrs. Next day I'll rinse the coco well and seperate again and now you have a high quality coco medium for about $10 and cal mag is $20 but will last a long time. They look awesome so i'll have to try that medium too. Im just looking for something simple to learn. Your plants look great! Im def. going to follow along. Thanks
I also use recharge and advanced nutrients sensi grow and bloom to take care of cal mag during growth and bloom stage. Coco for cannabis. Com has good articles on buffering your own coco mix as well.If you want a simple approach to a medium I have been using coco coir and perlite mix for over a year and its given me great harvests for my autos. No problem. This site and dudegrows podcast is the best for finding solutions on growing. I feed with every watering because im using coco. The coco doesnt hold the nutrients like soil so once you water/feed you should always try to maintain a 20% runoff from the quantity of water used. Example is if you water with half gallon of water you want to have about a cup or 2 of runoff. That way the previous nutrient solution is washed away.. Now if you decide on Dr. Earth like Mr canucks uses you will want to feed when it needs it. The dry amendments will slowly breakdown with every watering you do so no need to feed all the time. I feel that is easier when you know what youre doing. Im still learning about synthetics and how to boost my yields. I would try and shoot Canucks grow(Matt) a email on his patreon page and ask him about the feeding regimine. He's good about getting back to you. Hope this helps. Stay high brothaWow! Thanks for sharing that. It helps so much. So with that medium do you feed every water? Can you dry fertilizer like Dr.Earth All Purpose 4-4-4 and Dr. Earth Flower Girl 2-8-4 instead? I saw some youtuber claiming to grow with coco and just adding this gaia green dry stuff to it without feeding. I like the sounds of the convenience to learn the process and plant, then eventually getting to more sophisticated stuff but for now i just want simple to learn but while still producing as good as crop at my abilities (or lacking thereof). Thanks again Rasta!
