Hey everyone,

Real excited to join the AF family! I’m about to start my first grow in a 3x3x6 tent, gonna be running 4 autos in 5 gal fabric pots. I just bought a cheap “1200w” Amazon LED to start because I don’t really have the means for a fancy lighting system yet, but I also purchased a 600W Roleadro Reflector Series LED as well, thinking the 1200w might not be enough. Would running them at the same time be overkill? And what height do you suggest I keep them at for optimal performance? Any and all suggestions welcome, thanks again guys! :smoking:

Oh wow that’s a lot of light for a 3x3. I’m a newbie also just finished up my first ever grow also in a 3x3. I only grew 3 White Widows in mine with a 600 watt Vipaspectra led in 5 gal pots. My tent was so full my next one I’m going down to two plants. Feel free to check out my journal in the “ new grower journal section.” It’s listed as First grow: White Widow.

@Hatrick3 yeah I was thinking the same thing but the 1200w only cost me 60 bucks so I was thinking it couldn’t possibly be enough light. I wanted to do a mixed grow, was thinking LSD-25, Incredible Bulk, Taison, and maybe Blueberry Ghost OG, I’ve been indecisive about the last strain.

Also I wanted to run @TaNg ‘s easy Auto Feeding Schedule with the addition of Big Bud, when should I start adding it and what amount to mix per gallon?

That Roleadro is actually a 165 watt light. You didn't say what brand/model your "1200W" was, but it is likely 150-200 watts as well. They should be fine together in a 3x3 tent. Each light will probably come with a guide, but in general with blurple lights you can start them about 24" above the canopy, then gradually lower them to about 15"

Be sure to check how many watts the unit draw from the wall, rather than whatever is stated in the name. Virtually all LED growlight manufacturers use deceiving names. YMMV. If your lighting budget is that tight and only draws 165w, I wouldn't put more than 3-4 under that light, although i have not checked the coverage area. Especially in 5 gal pots (you didnt say soil or coco?) they can get big so i would put 2 under it maybe. the bigger the plants grow the worse your coverage area and penetration level will be.

You have 3x3 = 9 square feet. 165w / 9 = 18.3 (but you must consider growlight coverage area also)
Ideally with blurple lights aim for 40-55W per square foot.
For the newer white LED lights or high quality expensive models aim for 25-35W per square foot.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking as well, thanks man, I’ll probably start a journal, I’ll need all the help I can get!

I put both of them on today and it was pretty bright in the tent, I may need to double over my light restraints to get the height I think I need. I definitely will check the coverage area but with both lights I think I’ll be fine for my first grow, upgrade hopefully coming soon. Thanks for the help bro!

Update: The LED company sent me a second Roleadro 600w due to a shipping error, and SeedSupreme also sent 4 free Auto Amnesia seeds for a shipping error as well, might try one of those out as well! I also ordered all of my nutes on Amazon and because of ANOTHER shipping error, they gave me a full refund AND all of the nutes for free! :yay: S/O to great customer service!
