Hi! It is my first attempt on growing any plants really. I have read about the topic as much as I can but at some point one just has to try it in practice and start somewhere..

Not sure if I am doing any of it correctly, I think I did something (or everything wrong). Would appreciate any advice, thanks!

- I got some EasyBud seeds, I read it would be good choise for a beginner.
- My pot is a 10L (2.6 gallon) plastic with lots of draining holes at the bottom and riser/feet so it won't be sitting in the runoff when it becomes time to water.
- The Light is SpiderFarmer SF1000
- Soil is just generic store bought soilmix meant indoor growing for herbs. I mixed in some perlite, not sure about the ratio though because I just threw some in and mixed it. Also added a layer of potting gravel to the bottom of the pot.

More details on the soil from the bag:
Composted ingredients: Compost mix (chicken manure, rough ground bark, light peat)
Other ingredients: Moss substrate, dark peat, plant-based biochar for substrates
Liming material: Ground magnesium limestone powder 4 kg/m³
pH: 6.5
Conductivity: 40 mS/m
Nutrient content:
Nitrogen (N), water-soluble 95 mg/l (470 mg/kg of dry matter)
Phosphorus (P), soluble 52 mg/l (430 mg/kg of dry matter)
Potassium (K), soluble 570 mg/l (4600 mg/kg of dry matter)

Day1:
- I slowly pre-soaked the whole soil with ~2.5L (0.66 gallon) of Ph neutral water and got maybe 16% of it as runoff.
- I then started germinating the seeds between moist cotton pads.

Day2:
- Germination happened really fast, just in 24h the taproot was about 6-7mm (little over 1/4").
- I planted the seedling in to the pot, ~12mm (little under 1/2") depth and ever so gently covered the seed with soil.
- Covered the planting area with a clear plastic cup because I have trouble keeping the RH above 30%.

Day3:
- Nothing spectacular happened.

Day4:
- The seedling barely surfaced with the "pod" still almost closed.

Day5:
- Seedling got some length and the "pod" had opened but everything started looking pretty messed up: it only had one narrow cotyledon leaf and it was pointing straight up.
- Turned on the light with timer set to 18h/6h. Light install height: 24" Light power: 40%

Day6: Still looks same, has not grown and the single cotyledon leaf is still pointing straight up.

I attached a picture of the plant. The soil looks soaking wet in the picture, i don't know why, but the surface actually feels just moist and does not look nearly as wet to my own eyes.

The temperature in the growing environment has been pretty much constant 25°C (77°F), with RH varying between 30-37%
I have not watered the pot after pre-soaking it becase the soil still feels moist enough. (I can't squeeze water out of it but it stick into a clump if I squeeze it hard)

I feel pretty confused, on the other hand I know things take time and patience. But on the other hand I feel something is not right.
Like I said, this is my very first attempt on growing stuff.

Looks dampened off to me .. by day 6 or 7 there should be two sets of leaves.

RH for seedlings is in the 70% area. I run a cheap humidifier controlled by an Inkbird IHC200. I also dial in the lighting with the Photone App which takes the guesswork out.

Don't know about your grow medium. Some mediums can be too hot for autos. Also have to watch for fungus gnats in some soils as well. Those can kill a new sprout.

Sorry can't be of more help and wish you better luck on your next attempt

I've used various soil mixes and always add about 25% perlite to the mix. After mixing it up in the wheelbarrow, i water it down until i can barely squeeze a drop or two of water from the soil. Doing it this way i have found i don't need to water for at least a week. I do have the RH at 70% for the first week. And use a dome until the seed sprouts.

I use the Photone app for my Iphone to set the lights for the proper DLI (daily light interval)

And set the VPD (vapor pressure deficit) for the plant's stage of growth. Here's a couple links if you want more information on DLI and VPD these links will tell you all about them  Good luck, hang in there :toke:
