What's up AFN??? I just put my 5x5 grow tent together, I'm waiting for the temp and humidity controllers to get in should be in tomorrow or the next. I will be growing some red poison, black cream, purple kush, and some others I haven't decided yet but a total of 9 plants under a 1000w mh then hps. I will be using pro-mix hp in 3 gal. airpots and EJ grow, microblast, catalyst, bloom and meta-k. I also plan on using the EJ oily cann cal/mag/humic acid, hygrozyme, megagro, greedfuse bloom and advanced nutrients piranha as additives. I came across an article where the grower used basically the same stuff except he had some different cal/mag but he produced good quality medicine.

I have some questions because I am unsure how to use this Pro-Mix. Can I plant the seed right in it? Do I have to add anything to it to adjust the pH? What pH should it be at? When should I add nutes and how often? How many PPMS? If anyone has any recommendations on how to use these products and when please give me some knowledge. Hopefully this will be a good successful grow!!! :smoking:

Also I am going to make a co2 generator, when should I introduce it to the plants?

hey man welcome to AFN sounds like a nice set up, nice strains too!
never used promix myself but from what ive read its to be treated as a soilless medium so the ph of feeds should be kept between 5.9-6.2 although theres a thread where muddy (a highly respected former member) recommends keeping it higher 6.3-6.4
the ph of the mix should be around 6.5 from the bag but can be lower so people often add lime to the mix.
cant help you with the nutes or co2 dude sorry
don't see any reason not to plant seeds straight into the mix
maybe @Discretepete2676 @A4 @Weedman30 can chip in I think they use promix

Welcome to AFN ryder. Glad to have you bro.

To answer a few of your questions. Yes you can and should sow the seeds directly in the promix. It is an excellent germination medium. Use just water unless you want to add some mychos or something like that.

The pH of Promix has been my only gripe with using it. It tens to stay in the high 6s range and I like to grow in the high 5s. It is almost impossible to lower the pH reliably so I wouldnt suggest trying it.

It is absolutely void of any nutrients so you will want to begin adding nutrients after the second set of true leaves begin showing. I normally start out around 200 ppm early on and end up somewhere around 2500 ppm depending on the plant and how nutrient sensitive they are. I like to keep my pH around 5.6 - 5.8 and generally try to set my nutrient pH to 5.4 - 5.6.

When to add nutrients really just depends on the plant, container size, intensity of ligjting, etc. At least once a week but in some of my smaller containers I feed every day. There are too many variables that come into play to give you a firm answer on that.

Hit me up if you have any more questions, need some help or what have you. Either via pm or just tag me a post like sanguine did.

Be well.

@A4 has tons more experience with it than i. Very great source for information on promix and just about anything else lol. I love the promix myself. Thinking I might add some extra perlite this next run though, depends on if I get some air pots or not I guess. Don't let your promix go completely dry either. Want to keep your organisms in the soil living and active and they need slight moisture to maintain.

Thanks guys!!! I can't wait to get these girls planted. I'll post some pics of my set up once I get everything wired up.

Today I wired up my humidity and temperature controllers for my tent. I figured I would get everything in there and test her out. I have a 4" active air fan pulling air out of the tent and cooling the 1000w mh bulb. The fan is connected to a controller which is at the lowest setting. I also have a 6" booster fan that brings in cool air from outside when the temp gets over 78°. I put a small humidifier in there but it hasn't got any higher than 39%. I want to wait till I get the humidity up to 80% before I put my seeds in, so I am going to buy a better humidifier in a couple of days or see if I can borrow one from someone. I am also going to throw a tower fan in there to help circulate air as well. I have some questions that maybe you can help me with @A4. The temperature right now in my tent is at 77° with the ballast at 75%, should I turn it up to get the temp higher? Since the booster fan isn't constantly blowing air in, should I keep a port open on the tent? I pre-soaked the pro-mix with ro water that had a pH of 5.9, the run off was at 5.7.

I've been playing around with the fan speeds and temp control settings, finally got everything how I want it!! :jointman: The active air is still at its lowest setting pulling air out of the tent constantly and the booster fan turns on every 5 min. or so blowing cool air in at half speed for a few min. The temp at the top of the pots stays around 82° with the light 16" above them. This morning I pre-soaked the medium again at a pH of 6.5 and had a runoff pH of 6.2. I finally planted the beans so hopefully we'll be seeing some girls soon

6 out of the 9 seeds I planted have broke surface!!! So, 11/21 is day 1.:headbang: The three black creams are working on their set of true leaves. Two of the three red poisons should be as well tomorrow hopefully, I had to help remove the case from the bean on both. One out of the two purple kushes popped out too, had to help remove the case on her as well. One of the red poisons sprouted weird, it was kind of curled up so I tried to straighten her out by propping her up with some dirt and giving her a few mls of water. The other purple kush took a little longer to germinate but it should be popping up tomorrow I hope. I had planted an auto yumbolt from CBD seeds but it didn't germ. I'm germinating a king louis xiii og from cali connections to take its spot. I figure I'll let it veg with these babes then I'll let it hang out in the tent during flower for 12hrs then take her out. Perhaps I should rig up some type of shower curtain with velcro to block the light? I checked the moisture of the promix after I removed the yumbolt seed and its still a little moist. In the morning I'm going to water them slowly till I get a little runoff to make sure I don't have any dry spots.

Watered the pots yesterday with a pH of 6.4 till I had a little runoff. The runoff had a pH of 6.2. So far everything looks good all of the auto flowers have sprouted now I'm just waiting on louis. I turned off the 4" fan a few days ago now I just have the 6" booster blowing fresh air at a little less than half speed. Temp stays around 85° and humidity in the mid 70-75%. The ballast is at 50%. I'm thinking about introducing the extra co2 to the tent in about a week hopefully.
