They look very similar to Rapid Rooters, which I've used in the past. They should work fine, just be careful not to over water them. I did have some issues once where I over watered and the seeds rotted before they were able to germinate.

Muddy and I use Promix. It's considered semi-soilless and works great :dance2:

I think you should read FD's Guide to Growing Hefty Autos in Small Places.

Lots of great knowlegde and gives you some ideas for the whole grow.

Also Muddy & Joe Dirt are the guys you need to talk too. Not that all these people don't have good input, but as I found out it's very easy to follow 10 different peoples advice on growing. This usually results in a bad experience and poor yields.

Would it be cheaper to just buy everything separate?

I don't see anything wrong with those setups. Personally, I just like more customization, but it all depends on what you want. They seem to cover a lot of the bases that one needs for a good grow. Just make sure you also get a carbon filter with your ventilation setup. I have heard iffy things about the ones that HTG sells so I recommend buying from elsewhere, although the ones from there may work just fine. I use a Phat filter from plantlightinghydroponics.com. They have one that's even better called Phresh filters. Both of these are great filters.

I do have that same kind of tent from HTG(only the smaller version) and am very pleased with it and with there service in general.
