Hey AFN, this will be my first attempt to grow and have chosen to go the autoflower route. I made a list of things on HTG Supply and wanted to know if there was anything crucial missing. The list consist of

-HTGSupply 250w High Pressure Sodium Grow Light
-Roll of Mylar
-FoxFarm's Ocean Forest Potting Mix
-FoxFarm Liquid Soil Formula 3pk
-3 gallon phat sacks (4x)
-Ph tester

As far as seeds go I'm thinking of going with a few himalaya blue diesel, a Afghan kush Ryder, and maybe some auto assassin.

Any suggestions are much appreciated :peace:

you will need a fan for air circulation, a carbon filter. A temparture gauge. If temps in a grow room reach over 85f you can run into problems. Keep the grow room cool is key. You will want to pickup some PH down aswell if you don't know the PH of your water. For soil you want to keep your PH around 6.5 to 6.7. Nutes are important do you have a nute line up that you are considering. I would suggest Humboldt lineup of Grow, Bloom, Micro, Ginormous, Prozyme and getting some Cal/Mag

Maybe some FF ligt warrior to mix with the ocean forest. From reading on here auto aint really heavy feeders and can burn. Pro mix or someother low nutrient filler.

you don't want to start off seedlings in ocean forest as it will burn them up, you should start them in jiffy soil or something like that and transplant into the ocean forest when they get alittle stronger to handle the "hot soil"

Thanks for the quick replies guys. @lykaboss I have a small fan and thermometer/hygrometer so I've got that covered. As far as nutes, I planned on using the fox farms 3 pack. As far as soil, I could use pro mix for the seedlings, then a mix when I transplant? What is jiffy soil? I will use some ph down as well, do you just mix this with you're water?

How do I look as far as seed selection? any suggestions for a beginner

Hey there and welcome to the AFN, lysergicider, cool name :D

I suggest sticking to growing 1-3 plants of the same strain to start off with. Even the same strain will have different phenotypes and act differently, but definitely between different strains you will encounter different feeding schedules among other things, so it's easier to learn on the same strain. Someone put up a really cool thread about and Equipment List for beginners. I can't seem to find it, but when I do I will leave you the link.

Edit: Yes you add the ph up or down to your water as needed. A little goes a long way, as in a few drops.

lykaboss is telling you that you need a carbon filter and an inline extraction fan. Do you know what those are? An inline fan is a high powered fan that sucks a lot of air out of the room/cabinet/closet/tent your plants are in and replaces it with new air to keep your temps down and your plants breathing. The fan pulls air through a carbon filter that "scrubs" the air of scent so your stinky girls don't get detected. I've smelled my plants from down the block when a filter failed once, so get a good one.

inline fans and blowers.

and carbon filters

Fans move air in increments measured by cubic feet a minute or CFM. You want to make sure to match up your fan's CFM to the CFM a carbon filter is rated for, otherwise you stress the fan and the filter won't work.

Yeah I second the MI5. I haven't grown one personally, just heard a ton of good stuff about them. I do know personally that Critical Mass is a beast, though.
