New Grower First Grow - Northern Lights/Pineapple Express/Sweet Tooth (Autos)

Thanks for replying Medi. Sometimes it feels lonely here in my journal. ;(

I'm at like day 18 and a half. Reaching the 3 week mark pretty soon. I heard sexing can happen at like 15 days. I'm pretty sure I saw some female sexy parts in there but it's so hard to see and I don't like moving my plants lol. I don't even move them out of the tent like ever. I'm so paranoid I will mess something up! I'm going to order a loupe thingie with 60x mag

Lookin good bud, should be hitting over drive soon....:pass:

lol I bought yarn and stuff to do some LST but now I'm so scared to do it. My pineapple is too short to even lst but I also bought some lil bendy pipe cleaner like things for the "pony tail" method. I forgot who it was on this forum who talked about training that way but it sounded really good and I wanted to give it a shot. Maybe I will

You'll know when you see the pretty white hairs :)

I don't have a lot of experience, but I can chime in with my little bit.

As far as showing sex, every plant I've grown so far has lifted her skirts and shown her girly hairs, between day 15 and 23.

As far as smell, I've had nl start smelling a wee bit in week 3-4 , and I've had one that I never smelled unless I buried my face in her, all the way up until chop

You're doing great so far. Keep up the good work and good luck!

Hey Freiya, your plants are looking good :). If you are scared to do LST! you can just try and tuck the leaves out of the way, we use this method now after first doing LST. I honestly believe you can get equal results with both methods. Tucking must be done regularly, sometimes I would tuck a plant 6 or 7 times a day. I know this isnt possible for everyone and this stage only goes for about a week. Twice a day is enough most other times of the veg period, not very often during full flower. Even if you use LST you will still have to tuck, just not as much. The chances of causing damage are reduced significantly when tucking. It is not hard to break a branch or worse during some forms of LST. Just my two cents cheers

How exactly do you tuck? what do you tuck the leave under or with?. I also have my CFL's right next to the plants hanging right beside them. I think they might be doing a pretty good job of hitting the plant between the leaves. I think I should just man up and lst my Northerlights though. She is definitely tall enough for me to do it unlike the PE.

Just tuck any fan leaves that are blocking branches from the light. Put them behind anything that will keep them out of the way, i.e. other leaves or stem etc. When the branch you are uncovering gets out into the light you can then release it. We usually just use our hands but, Trapper I know uses a chopstick in the harder to reach areas. You can start when they are quite small, but you need to be gentle, it gets easier when they get a bit bigger. Hope this helps, any more questions are most welcome :)

Check out my Roadrunner journal. She was very underdeveloped when I started lst and I think a couple of the pictures should show it can be done carefully. As for tucking, all I do is push the large fan leaves under the areas I want exposed to the light.
Don't be too worried about making mistakes, that's what your first grow is all about (and in my case, the second, and probably the third!)

Yea I definitely feel like both my plants are underdeveloped at this point. I have no Idea what I did wrong. It's really frustrating because I don't know what to change for my next grow. Both of the plants look super healthy, but they just seem so small compared to where they should be at.

I'm pretty depressed about it and I don't know what to do. I'm starting to think maybe my LED sucks or something but I know other people with the same LED have gotten great results so I doubt that is it. I just don't know what it could be. I doubt it's a PH issue though I haven't really tested my PH much. I figured if I had PH issues it would show on the leaves but my leaves look great. Damn, even the baby looks small for her age imo, she is at day 15.

Maybe I have the led too close? it's been about 12-16 inches away.

I've started feeding the 2 oldest some full strength nutes now and the youngest got her first taste of nutes the other day. I've also started using chesters pony tail method today. He said he let his rest for a handful of hours but it was such a hassle getting that shit on I don't think I want to take it off lol. I should have got fuzzy pipe cleaners instead of the stupid spider leg thingies as they don't bend as well.

Pics! @ start of day 21 and the baby is at start of day 15
