New Grower First Grow Newbie! 4X4 RDWC LED CBD

Seems the little lack of circulation didn't do any harm, the growth in the last 14 hours is noticeable from overnight! Two of the plants have put on a good inch or two... was about 100mm the other day and now closer to 200mm.

Photos never do it justice l, but here goes!

The one that now seems to be struggling the most is the soil, I disturbed the soil a bit yesterday, and it's also sitting lower than the rest. Will try to remedy that today!

Looking good, Matt. The problem with the one in soil will be the pH. It’s probably still sitting in the mix you made for the hydro plants, I’m assuming that’s about 5.8?

6.5 for mud. She still looks healthy enough tho bud so... happy days.. all the others are doing the do too! [emoji1360]

I have given two waters with straight tap water, which sits about ph7 so trying to flush a little and bring it up a bit.

Also when I moved it out of the tent the other day, I disturbed the soil and the root plug came lose a bit so jist trying to be gentle with her.

I need some fresh soil and a solo cup challenge (because why not!) So I might do a semi soil change if I can do it gently.

Hey there @mattskeee looking good. Just a few thoughts. You need to keep all light away from your reservoirs and it looks like you might have a few leaks. The spot where you air hose goes into the top looks like a large light leak, unless there is some double blind passage and then I’m wrong. Also is the top off your reservoir or is it always open also. If it has exposure to light that is also not good. I use cheap dish towels folded over to lay in the tops to cover the holes. Also can help with a mini Christmas tree skirt style when they are young to stop light getting past the hydroton. Once the plants is big enough to shade then remove.

Oh and the bonus is you grow room is always full of hand towels which I constantly seem to need to wipe up spilt nutrients or water.

Keep up the good work

Oh and if like me you do all that but remove for pictures so no one sees all the stained towels then kudos and hopefully some finds this nugget and it’s helpful.

Hey Frenji!

Yes you're correct, there is probably some light leakage where those air hoses go into the top of the buckets, it's probably a 3/4inch hole there... And yes, I have never had a lid on the resevoir. They didn't ship a lid with the kit so I've just never had one.

I definitely need a surplus of towels because in always making a mess, but my OCD won't let me leave it messy haha... I'll get onto a lid and some towels asap :)

This is just to try and avoid algae etc., right?

I’ve done a soil change at this stage without any problems. Should be ok [emoji1360]. Ya might not need to tho.. see how she goes over the next few days.

A bit of an update 1150ppm or an EC of 1.6.... probably cooking the girls a little bit - and probably didn't help either that I didn't have the water pump switched on for 24 hours!

I'm going to add some plain tap water to bring the splutions Ppms down...

All the girls are a little dark green for my liking, not bad though. A couple of slightly curly leaves, and a few with spots lower down. There has definitely been some growth though...

Probably least with the one in soil - I propped her up on two bricks so the canopy heights are more equal.

Hopefully get to the shops in the next 24 hours for some more soil - for her, and my auto solocup challenge (yes because I need something else to worry about!)

Pics here - good luck loading on a mobile haha [emoji85]

Thanks everyone!

QUESTION - How would all of you feel if I took one or two detailed pictures of each plant, and asked for some feedback on defoliation and/or further trimming/topping/training of the ladies?

Environment is sweet now, save for the lady in the dirt...

Maybe it can even be done from today's daily update pictures? Thanks!

PS. Apologies to those of you that are on both AFN and GC, and probably see my dual posts [emoji1787][emoji173][emoji2323]

Can I vote to leave them alone again? LOL

Not saying you can’t take some leaves in a week or two but for now I vote leave them alone.

It can be helpful to update plants age in weeks as you go along in your thread. I don’t count days but try to know what week I’m in. I’m not sure if everyone knows you are approaching week 5, I think.

You’ve had a few stresses to the plants so far.
Late transplant into DWC, already had lots of roots coming out of the cube can cause issues with taproot.
The brown slime issue that sorted itself, I think.
And you just topped them.

I’m not trying to be the pessimist. Just will be really tough to figure out what to change at the end to improve your next grow or decide what may have been a yield contributing factor. Sit back relax and let them grow IMHO. The one great skill that I think all the master growers here ( not me) have continually repeated is........ patience. Teach yourself that early in and you’ll be the best grower you can be much quicker.

Good vibes and keep up the good work.
