New Grower First grow. looking for some help along the way

hehe my old tent was 4 feet high. It definitely didn't leave me with a lot of room. I think after a grow or 2 you will want a taller space. Especially if nothing is really stopping you from having it. I mean the closet is 9'.

You seem really prepared though! easy to see you did a lot of research. I'm sure your first go will be nice. Good luck buddy and welcome to afn. ;D

Thanks man. I actually tossed the box today and hung a 2x4 and hung my lights from it about 7 feet up. They are adjustable. I mylared the walls and I am just waiting for seeds to pop. I am having a hard time posting a pic.

Day 3 of germination and still no sign of activity. I have three seeds in some jiffy starter mix. They are in solo cups. I have set them up to use the tiered method to transplant after they are up for a few days. I have plastic over cups and I have been misting once or twice a day. They are under 4 23 watt cfls about 12 inches above the cups. I planted them about 3 times as deep as the size of the seeds. It is about 80 degrees in the closet.

My most recent bean took 3 or 4 days to germ. The waiting damn near drove my ass crazy

1guy1plant, I'd watch the heat. I've had some slow germinations that I believe were due to germinating with a heat mat. On advice from other AFN members I now germinate in paper towel and drop the seeds after they crack. Good luck!

Hi 1guy, I have found that I get a better germination rate at 60 degrees vs. warmer temps. It normally takes mine about 3 days in paper towels to have a tail at which point I plant them and then 1 - 2 days to pop above the ground so don't give up yet

I am not giving up by any means. I will turn the lights off and see if that helps. It has only been 72 hours.

FYI, I just had a seed that was in paper towels for 27 days before it sprouted; the other 4 of the same variety were sprouted in 3 days. That is what I like about starting in paper towels, gives you the ability to check what is going on but I do think it is safer to go straight to soil like you have done. Good luck

Right before going to bed I checked and believe it or not 1 of the 3 has sprouted. About 3.5 days since I dropped them in the starter mix.
