Hi
I think my second grow attempt will fail miserably again.
I used coco mixed with perlite (60/40).

I want to start a new chapter: SOIL.

So, I was opting for BioBizz (as it s available at my local store). They have all mix and light mix. I was thinking to go with Light mix? any suggestion?
Also do I need to mix soil with perlite? If yes how much would be best?
Also I will germinate straight into soil (as it is the only thing it always went well, 100% germ rate in my career so far lol). So how should I do that?
The pots are 11lt.
Shall I water the pots throughougly with run off before planting the seed, or just moist the few inches of the pot? if you tell me how much water you use for your pot sizes would be very helpful. I know its not general rule, it depends by too many factor. But just to give me an idea. My temp is 29 lights on, 21-22 lights off.
Also, after the inital watering when is it time to water again? Shall I leet the pots dry fully?
I really don't want to over water again.....

You could get a bag of Lightmix and Allmix, fill the pot 2/3 full of Allmix and 1/3 Lightmix, then the plant can grow into the Allmix and will save you feeding for the first 2-3 weeks. I use both and add about 30% perlite to mine. You can also add a tbs of Dolomite lime to the mix to help keep your pH in check. If you can wet the soil 2weeks before you plant, that will give the soil time to get activated a little.

With regards to watering, I use 6ltr airpots and water approx twice a week in veg and more as needed when in flower. Feel the weight of your pot when you first put the soil in, then feel it after you have watered it, that should help but read the plants as much as possible, you can also stick your finger in about an inch to see if it's dry. You want to get run off but only about 10-20% of pot size, it's actually hard to overwater so long as you give the soil time to dry out a bit.

Hope that helps. :Sharing One:

I went with all mix first grow and it was good. Just used John Innes #2 this time.

Next grow I'm using FullDuplexs soil mix or a variant on it;

FullDuplex soil mix
1cup = 236ml
1qt = .946ltr
25lb bag of compo
(17 ltrs) 18Qt Bag perlite
(708ml) 3 cups of Blood and bone Meal
1.5 cups of powdered egg shells
1.5 Cups of Epsom salt
1/2 cup of sea weed kelp
1 cup of powdered baby cereal

I'd have the pot nicely moist throughout. I make a little hole about 1cm deep and I gently cover, when needed I carefully give where the seed is a little drizzle to keep it moist.

Then once we've got beyond seedling to veg state I start to flood/dry, so I wait until it's dry to top knuckle and give a good flush through with whatever amount of water is required to have some (20%ish) wash right through. Gradually you notice them getting thirstier and then less thirsty.

Go with the flow.

Thank you. This is Great. I will buy both mixes and do as you suggested. So i won't be bothere with nutes for a good while.
Would you use some Biobizz Root Juice before planting or do you think is not necessary?
Also my tent/lights has space for either 2 11lt pots or 3 6 liters pots?
Under the same condition and lighting, would you think is better to go with 3 6liters or 2 11liters? in terms of yield.

Thanks. What about the first 2 weeks from sprout? after you initially moist the soil and the seed sprouts; when you have a small seedling with just 1 set of leaves. how do you water? do you let the first inch to dry and then watere the pot thoroughly? or you just water around the sprout? or you constantly keep it moist?
Sorry. but the first 2 weeks seem to be very hard for me.

Yeah you can use the root juice for the first week or so. Don't take it as gospel about not feeding for the first few weeks, but usually auto's do ok with what's in the Allmix at least for 2 weeks, it's hot soil, just read the plants.
As far as the pot sizes, bigger pots = bigger plants - simple as that. However you prob don't want to over face yourself and if it were my first grow, I'd probably go for 2 of the 6ltr but that's down to your decision bro. You can pull two zips from a 6ltr pot no worries.

No for the first two weeks I've kept it moist (but not soaked) all the time. This water in the pots with my lights on makes tent humid. Generally though because very little is drunk the initial preperatory soaking keeps the pot moist and I just do a little trickle right at the plant and wet an area the base of a coke can around it. As time goes on I let it go more and more towards dry.

Sorry to not be more precise, whilst in part its due to my inexperience, I also believe you've got to feel where your own plant is to a way and apart from nutes I don't really measure water/timings etc. Just go with what I feel it needs.
