New Grower First Grow - GCS Bubble Gum and Cheese

I think that's why we all end up here haha
Going all out, searching for the best information,
Then stumble across this wealth of knowledge and amazing growers

Bubbles looks good, if slightly droopy,
Mayor cheese beside her is just rocking it though, absolutely loving life, you're doing her right buddy
Happy growing and :goodluck:

Well, boys and girls, it's Thursday! And you know what that means, update day!

This has been a rough week, both for me and the girls. As you know, bubbles has been looking droopy, and we've been fighting nute deficiencies. I think I figured out the nute/droopy problem, we'll see over the next few days. I discovered my pH pen had fallen out of calibration, and so I retested what I had left, and both were at 5.1! I know I checked this feed because I added new flowering nutes to the mix, and I know it was a little low, because that's what I shoot for with the soil pH, but not 5.1! I had some ph up, so I brought them both up to 6.2, and I'll raise it to 6.4 on the next gallon. I also did a pretty heavy defoliation on both of them, since in spite of the conditions they both have been putting out tons of new growth.

On to the pics. As usual, we'll do the group shot:

And a few of Bubbles:

As you can see, she's definitely stretching, and she's really starting to pack on the bud sites. I went a lot heavier on the defoliation, primarily to clear out some of the dying leaves as well as to open up some new bud sites.

On to The Mayor:

She's really trying to work that top cola, lol. She's really pumping out the bud sites, and I'm really loving watching them grow up, there's a part of me that's going to be a little sad to chop them in a month or so.

The temps have dropped a lot over the last few days, and it's killing the rh, it was at 29% this evening. So I got the brilliant idea that since the thing is over humidifing, maybe I should take it out of the tent and treat the room (I know, big brain moment) we'll see how that does over the next few days.

And rather then making another post in 5 minutes, I already made the collage pics

Just a little Saturday update. They newly pH'd nutes seem to be doing them well, they've both perked up quite a bit over the last two days. I'm noticing that their leaves are looking a little thinner, for lack of a better term. They aren't canoeing or curling, just don't look as meaty as the used to. I don't think it's anything to worry about, since they're not discolored and they don't look unhealthy, more of an observation.

A little group shot of them:

And some bud porn of The Mayor, she got a visit from the frost fairy during lights out:

As I crawl ever closer to the finish line, the wheels are turning for grow number 2. Looking back at this grow, I see some big mistakes that I've made. I've been a little bugged that these two never really got that big, I think one big issues is that I didn't use near enough soil. I looked at the beginning of this thread, and noticed that I didn't fill the pots near enough. This caused issues in that it was hard to do any LST, especially given how much the soil compacted. That lack of soil mass probably also curtailed the size, since there wasn't as much room for the roots to grow.

I'm thinking of going for a water only grow using KIS soil next time. I need to do some research on amendments and the like. I'm not sure what else I can do to increase size, other then maintaining tem and humidity better, an ink bird controller is definitely in my future.

All that said, I'm super stoked with how this grow is going, and it's looking like I'm going to have a nice stash of great smoke in a month or so!

I got lazy and skipped a ton of reading bro :jointman: but wondered how humidity is doing? When mine were that size I had to leave a jug of water open in tent to keep it over 45% but now even with dehumidifier mine is high 60% with top of tent unzipped a lil bit! I gotta get me a good in-line fan that’ll control temp n humidity for mine! Damn dry Tx air! And next time think about topping! 1st time growing anything myself and happy with how it’s turning out now!

:pass:

Also only need an inkbird controller if humidity has problem staying in zone and goes to high or to low where u need a humidifier and a dehumidifier to balance out but u gotta get super cheap brand with a switch that’ll stay in on and not a push button like this 1....

If using controller with that type of on switch when power comes back it won’t turn on automatically without u pressing the power button each time! Keep that in mind bud! Ac infinity makes a good inline fan (t4/6/8) that has a control panel with temp n humidity control and a 15’ probe to put at canopy height and it’ll come on and control temp n humidity by raising or dropping it! $120 for small t4 but worth it in my book!

ya, i too have noticed with me indicaz even, that once they get a couple weekz into flower time, their leavez do start "thinning", for lack of a better term, lol ;) idk for sure, but i've alwayz guessed it has sumthin to do with the plant puttin more energy & focus into the budz at that point & itz solar panelz don't need to be as wide sumhow...or sumthin like that  hey, it soundz good anyway :coffee: ppp
