Both plants still have quite a few calyxes that haven’t opened up yet. Is that normal? The ones that have are tiny little buds. Idk if they will get any bigger? Appreciate any insight!

I get those on most of my flowers, they'll stay like that and won't get any bigger so no need to worry about em.

Those discolored dying leaves are serving little to no use for those plants at this point. You're dead set on keeping them for whatever reason but I still say to get rid of them. Open the buds up and let them get as much light as possible. Flowers serve the same purpose as the leaves and photosynthesis will continue without the dead shriveled up leaves.

You buds are looking pretty good though. I hope you don't follow some previous advice on here and chop them to early.

Thanks man I will do some defoliation tomorrow. Wasn’t sure if I could this far into it. Didn’t want to stress them too much. Thanks for the advice! And nah, I’m going to be super patient. Not trying to rush any step of the process.

At this point, stressing the plant is a non issue. You're trying to get those buds to fatten up. Taking leaves isn't going to do anything but help that.

As it gets more light and air you'll start to see the lowest buds of the main cola start to lean out, in a spiral from the bottom of the cola to the top.

I would cut all the crispy leaves at least back to where they're green, and any of them that block light.

this is what my plants look like at harvest. I do a minor defol at the beginning of flower and a major one a few weeks in. I cut off every fan leaf that I can get to the stem on. Keep in mind this plant pictured was grown in a 1 gallon bag so it’s not huge but I’m gonna pull a decent amount off it. It’s drying right now. Any discolored leaf on your plant, I’d cut it off. It’s really not gonna hurt anything and it’s gonna open the plant up for more air and light.
