Also on my first grow..Monday was a good day for both of us by the looks of things...:d5: 6 out of 6..
So tempting to keep watering them but will resist the temptation..if i see an insect even looking at my babies it's Armageddon time

Yh I'm trying my best to wait until my medium is completely dry before watering. I have my first leaves as of yesterday. Haha yes no insects allowed. I have mine in my green house so hopefully that helps protect them good luck and keep me updated with your grow.

I had one do that now the rest seem to be catching up.. Seems to be ok afaict

First grow seeking advice. My seedlings are 7 days old. I started them in jiffy peet pots and transferred them to 3 gallon fabric pots after germination the soil is half of and half happy frog
I have been watering every other day just enough to cover the width of the jiffy pot
My question is when should I saturate the 3 gallon pot to the point of run off
The plants look good with 2 sets of leaves just trying to be careful
Any feedback is appreciated

:welcome: Congrats with your babies. I water lightly, around the outside of the leaves if you are looking straight down on the plant. Not under the leaves. I keep a clear cover over the plant until its too big for it. That keeps the RH and moisture up for the seedling. I don't water until runoff, yet a lot of others do. I dampen the grow medium as I put it in the grow pot, and use a spray mister to keep the surface damp. I use one of those moisture probes to check the whole pot, checking the moisture levels at a few different levels in 4 places around the pot. The deep reading might show moist, with the middle moist, and the upper couple inches close to dry. So I water lighter, just to get those top couple inches some moisture. I have read many many times that watering less, more often is better than watering a lot, less often. Whichever way you decide to water, PH is important. 6.2 to 6.8PH in soil. Also, if you didn't cut the OF & HF with some perlite or something, that soil may retain a lot of water, so it may be easy to over water. I'm on my second grow now and my first grow kicked my butt.:wall: I had a lot of basics to learn that I wasn't familiar with growing photos outdoors.:headbang:

Good luck with your first grow!:woohoo:

This sits over the plant until it gets too big to be under the dome.

Slowly and gradually increase the amount of water in every watering session, until you reach the 1 liter. This is basically the maximum your pot can take without run off. When you reach this amount, at the beginning it will take 5 to 7 days to dry, but as the roots and the plant grow bigger, the soil will be drying in 3-4 days. At the end of flowering this will decrease to every day. One liter of water is an ideal dose in many respects. First of all it is safe with nutrients and you can avoid nutrient burn with this amount. Also it is easy to calculate the nutrient dose without complicated mathematics. You avoid run off which is depleting soil from nutrients and must be avoided. It dries easily so humidity is under control. And so many other simple but important everyday grow factors will run smoothly.
