Hi Folks,

I am new to the site and this is my first post, it is also the first time i will be growing auto's.

I would appreciate any advice on how many plants i should grow with a setup in a cupboard. This is the size i am talking about. Length 3 ft, Height about 9 ft and depth about 1 1/2 ft. It is quite small as you can imagine and i will be using a sunmaster 250w HPS. I would also like some advice on which strain to use, i quite fancy something that will blow my socks off. Any sound advice will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to AFN. You're come to the right place for autos. Is this your first grow ever, or have you grown photos before?

Your space should be big enough for about 4-5 plants, depending on the strain. That would also be about the maximum that a 250 watter would support. As to what to grow, it's really personal preference. The e-Shop at the top of the page has some good ones developed by the breeders here. Also, just about anything from Short Stuff or Flash, with the exception of the Super Autos. They get quite big and are better suited for outdoors. Mi5 is a good one to start with. It's potent with a well balanced high, produces well and is easy to grow.

Thanks Muddy, much appreciated, with so many strains to choose from it can get a bit daunting, i have grown a couple of plants in the past, but never tried auto's, the cupboard got a bit crowded when i grew some ultra skunk a few years ago ( could hardly close the door ) but now it seems auto's are the way to go. I think i will try the Mi5 as you suggested. The 250 watter is a dual spectrum, do you think these are good bulbs or should i stick to the generic type. Thanks again my friend

Yes, autos are the way to go for small spaces. There are many growers here using the dual spectrum lights with good success. I haven't used HPS is awhile myself, I'm fully LED now, mainly due to heat issues in my small spaces.

I don't think you will be disappointed with Mi5. They are pretty stable with the occasional runt or bush pheno, but mostly single cola with 4-12 side branches. They seem to grow best in 3 gallon pots in a light soil mix with a lot of perlite. My yields usually run around 2 - 3 oz. per plant which might be ambitious for your first grow, but 1.5 oz per plant average should be easily accomplished with good growing techniques.

I'm going to move your thread over to the New Growers forum. Joe Dirt and I moderate that forum and we are available to help you through your first grow.

welcome lowlander.ive only grown autos with dual spec hps and the results are very good.the mi5 is a very good plant to start off with very forgiving and not nuch of a stresser.onix from the same breeder is 1 you should take a look at as well.

Welcome to AFN brother! This is the best info / advice on auto's you will find anywhere! :peace:
