Took them to the barber shop the other day and got them their first cuts. Wasn't really wanting to because I wasn't sure how they would like it. Didn't want them to start crying and get all depressed on me. They seemed to like it though. They showed me by flashing their bud sites. These things have almost made me want to give up photo growing if it weren't for the lack of yield come paycheck time I would.
very interesting and unique take on things, was wondering if you wouldnt mind elaborating on the haircuts. i see a lot of ppl recommending not topping autos, i have a very bushy lr2 bout 48 days old and never had the balls to prune it. just wondering if i had pruned it would she have put more energy into producing bud...

Actually the haircuts are just trimming off fan leaves that are blocking off light to the remainder of the plant and most importantly the flowers. Never take more than 1/2 at a time and shock will be reduced. Not sure how much of a botanist you are but the plants need the leaves to photosynthesize. Although losing a leaf here and there is perfectly natural. Topping I've done it but would I so it to regular autos?...no. The plants aren't that big for my situation...the super autos..yeah just because they at full height would be a lot harder to conceal otherwise. I retained one male and one female and just tucked the leaves on those for now. They are the 2 best and if they continue at their present rate would be contest material possibly. The rest I opened up a bit as production is my goal. I don't think I'd go to the length of doing any trimming until after they show sex though. Some plants can get picky and I've had females go hermie on me when stressed so my advice is to wait till flower to begin pruning and not top unless height restrictions require it.

With a regular non-Super auto I wouldn't top at all, LST can be utilized in that kind of situation...
What is your height? Would it be possible for you to just tie the tops and limbs down as need be?

If LST is out of the question then I guess your left with topping them but I would be very careful when doing so, If your sure to leave the branches at the node you top at then you should be fine enough for an auto...
The leave pruning is a great tool for getting light to hidden flowers, Keep it up for a first grow you seem to know...
Always, These are just my opinions and never aim to undermine anyone just wanted to contribute:thumbs:

no sweat there, have subscribed already:thumbs: thanks for taking the time out to go into it. i get the whole photosynthesis thing and i know she probably could do without a few of her shovel sized leaves , i was just afraid of stressing her out. i'll have a bit more balls next time round, may even go out and pull a few of the bigger ones now:peace: lookin forward to seeing the rest of your grow
