New Grower first auto flower grow

i have built my self an 8 by 8 room , fully insulated and all walls covered with mylar . i have bought myself a ten pot hydro system with 400watt light , the seeds i am using are super uzi feminized, this is my first time ever growing in door and using a hydro unit , and you guest it first time growing with autos, all info would be great, just waiting on a ph and ec meter, is my light enough for ten plants , pot size is 6.5l
, whats is the best way to germinate autos , iv only ever grown out door, im worried im going make a mess of the whole thing, thanks

well the room is definately way big enough. if thats your only light you may want to use freestanding walls covered in mylar closer to your plants for maximum light benefit. i recommend using insulating styrofoam board covered in white plastic. nice and light, easy to put in and out. with 400w...hps, it may not give you the yield you seek. also, hopefully the scent indoors won't be an issue for you. good growing.

Sounds like youve got all the gear and no idea lol.. Not to worry!! Seeds can be germed as normal.. Soak for 24 hours in warm water they should sink.. After 24 hours keep warm moist in tissue until cracked then transplant into growing medium (rockwool, jiffy pellet etc...) iv never done more than four plants and 400w seemed just about enough for them,maybe consiDer a light mover?? Im fairly new to hydro(only grown chill''s before) but from what im learning its easier than soil growing!!

thanks for your reply , i thought it was a little big , i am also having trouble with the hydro unit that i did not mention all so , it was damaged on transit , light was smashed and plastic case to hold water and pots was cracked, DHL are not willing to take responsibility, and the company are more a less saying its not there problem either, iv decided to seal the cracked plastic with fiber glass and located a new 400watt bulb , no point crying over it, just got to make the best of a bad situation, thats the way im looking at it.

hi thanks for the reply, thats exactly what sounds like, i guess im so used of growing out doors also, have been growing outdoors for about 10 years, im so not used of the different size lighting systems and pot sizes , nature always took care of that out side, also i guess being my first indoor grow im going to make mistakes, what would the yeild be like if i was to put the ten plants under the 400w , or would it be a total waste of good seeds, thanks again

A 400 watt HPS can effectively cover about 9 sq. ft. so I would do as Wildrunner has suggested and put up some partitions to close the space in. You will get more benefit from reflected light that way. Also, HPS light put out a lot of heat so that might also become an issue for you. And of course, the smell. A good carbon filter is almost a must.

Depending on what strain you grow you might want to go with bigger pots. 3 gallon are a good size for most autos. 1.5 sq. ft. of space per plant is optimal, so about 6 plants would be good under that light.

hi thanks for the reply, the area i am using for the grow is the upper area of my new house which is 1,525 sq.ft of empty space which iv made my 8by 8 room, i have no worries about smell , im depending on air blowing in through a vent in the wall which will be the intake and just another air vent in the roof for exit, The strain i am going to grow are from high life seed bank , super uzi feminized , i think wont go with the ten plants because it seems to much for the light . thanks again ,
