Hello I am brand new to indoor autoflower growing, as well as this fantastic website. I am not new to growing however certainly not an expert and would greatly appreciate some help and opinions. here is what im using: BioBizz Light Mix soil mixed with 1/5 perlite, 2.5 gallon pot, 1.5x1ft grow space, a 300w 9 band LED (actual draw 155) and four cfls 3 6500k 18w and 1 2700k 16w, GO nutrient box. The seed is a Heavyweight Fast and Vast.
My issue is that while the plant seemed to be growing well at seedling stage, it showed purpling in the bottom stem. I took this just as it was young and it would turn green when it filled out. Then after the first leaves splayed out the stem had rapid growth for about three days roughly 3 inches thick and green. however the bottom of the stem remained purple and fairly thin. I know this to be an issue of phosphorous so I gave it a light feeding at about 2 weeks of age. The purple on the bottom stem eventually began peeling off and revealed green underneath. however at this point the top stem had very slight purple streaking. Then came what I am wondering about. Instead of the top developing in to two more nodes it developed in to one large fanleaf, with slight purple streaking inside the stem. I waited two weeks and it showed now sign the main stem would grow any longer or develop anymore nodes. Anyone have any clues as to what would cause this? And also I germinated my seed on Feb. 14th 2015, it popped by the 16th and was planted by the 17th, sprouted the 20th. shouldn't it be much farther along than just two small developing side branches and the large fanleaf top? Everything I see says they show sex by week three or four mine looks still like a photoperiod in week two of veg. Any help is hugelyyy appreciated and thank you in advance for taking the time to read this really long question .

Hey greenbeans. Welcome to the site. I am pretty new as well and I can tell you that the first grow is the most stressful. My experience has been around day 25 or so the plants take off. Once the tap root hits the bottom of your pot they will grow and grow. I too posted that mine seemed small the first grow and then they took off about 3 days later. You just have to be patient. It sounds like you have a good set up and have done your research so just let them do their thing and you will have so good smoke in 60 or 70 days.

It should be muck bigger now and starting to show sex.
Sometimes though there some plants that are sick and don´t grow, just like animales also can be runts.
I myself have some that sprouted 15. of feb. They are about 20-25 cm high and 4 nodes.
There are one little one that is 5 cm tall but also 4 nodes, it will be moved when i need the space.
Mi plants are Blue Streak and will finish at about 40-50 ca tall.

Rilla.

Thanks for the quick reply! Its just been so different from photoperiods outside, And everything I read says its flower period can't be slowed, so I'm very curious as to why this ones growth is so slow. I have large drainage holes on the bottom and I can see roots they look incredibly healthy but it just doesn't seem to want to take off. But your right patience is the name of the game thanks again and happy growing!

Thanks for your input GoeRilla! I actually chose the seed from my 5 pack because it looked a bit off from the others, slightly larger but weaker. I was worried I possibly got the 2fast2vast seeds which ive heard are more unstable but your idea sounds much more plausible and comforting haha. Thanks very much happy growing!!

Greenbeans, sounds like way too much light for that small of grow space. The purple coloration is often a protection mechanism by plants getting too much light. Being short and overly compact is also a sign. Just your CFLs located a couple of inches above your plants would be enough light at this point. I would take out either the CFLs or the LED. If you want to run the LED you probably want to have it about 24 inches above the tops of the plants

that makes a tremendous amount of sense as the growth looks very healthy and the stem is solid but it has stopped growing upwards! for the first two weeks I only used the cfls and it had no problem growing up. I bought the LED for two months from now when im able to set up my larger tent but I guess curiousity got the best of me and I had to know if it worked haha. Im going to leave the led off for a week or so and see how it goes Thanks a lot Oldster your a genius! happy growing!
