They are all very close. Ferrari vs Lamborghini. Each company has different models or versions which all have slight variations as far as efficiency goes. The Cree 3590 is cree's top cob. The 3590 is beat by the citizen 1818 and very close to the citizen 1812. I haven't messed with vero but I do think that's also a very close contender. In the end most of these chips are around the 50% mark which is more than twice the light of epistar and brigelux brand leds.

Hey man and welcome! You've found the best place to get all your questions answered! Not sure if you still want to DIY (i've decided to hold off on a COB until down the road) Here is a quick video to give you an idea of what you'd be in for. Not so bad on paper, but to get the results you want to make it worth your time/money... you may have to invest more time into in than you are prepared for right now (maybe).

If you cant afford cob leds and want about the same if not a bit better quality buds go cmh/lec. Sunspectra.com best deals and 630 watts can cover 5x5 with a double ended cmh light perfectly they are beast. My buddy bought one from them cause of me and loves it. Currently I dont have a cmh but have grown with them before and did 1.5 gpw and had room for improvement.
