Lighting Finally building my COB

any sparky should be able to do it mate. i got both my leds checked over by one as i was suspicious about one of them. true wattage was tested by measuring the amp draw wich sparkys ( electrical technicians) have a tool for. voided my waranty on my brand new mars600 and another unbranded 600led but im paranoid about these things enough that it doesnt bother me lol.hel be fixing them if they break anyway

Shoulda thrown a few cobs in place of the leds while you had it open. Increase the gpw numbers and save on electricity.

oh aye like, hes one of my best mates so hes safe lol. think thats why i like it so much on here. can actually talk about it freely. the amount of people i know that still think smokers are junkies is scary.

ill be upgrading after this crop and giving one of mine away so ive been looking into it. budgeted 500 quid for it so trying to find something decent for about that price to run alongside my mars. seen some at like 1500 for a 300tw and i cant justify paying that to light a 1 m1x1m tent. DIY really isnt my speciality though so ill just have to get ripped off : ( lol

Getting ripped off starts with claims on the lights you buy. When a 1000w claimed light is putting out more like 75 par watts but draws 400 watts at the wall you pay for leds or cobs that cost pennies. Check out the DIY section and start a thread. There is a lot to learn about lighting, a lot more about actual light and not wattage.

yeah so ive noticed. been seeing some scary results with apparently very little power. its all still a bit confusing at the moment really. been putting a lot of my spare time into this project tho so im getting there.

If you haven't got the money for a cob build buy a 96 reflector man. Like 150 bucks

Awesome light, Nice build.
I can't tell by the picture which driver you used, another question, did you run these cobs in parallel or in series? by the pic with the wiring it looks like it could be in parallel. But again hard to tell. Either way it turned out amazing.

Hi.. Yes im happy with it.. Plants are thriving and healthy, this may also be attributed to the fact that they are getting even light coverage.. The HID are not horrible lights,but the effective footprint was a bit small and in the summer the temps were on the high side.. My room issue is that since its in a basement,i dont have a means to run an inline fan to vent heat which is also the reason i dont grow in tents.....i'll add a pic later tonight as i have company right now...
