New Adventure!!

O.K. here's the Daily Update:

Let me get the bad news out of the way first. Yours Truly made a careless mistake and I've lost my second NYLPD. I put it in the dirt and gave it a little water to keep it moist and the water moved it around close to the top enough for the HPS to fry the taproot. Grr! I hate being a DUMB ASS! So, note to self and other newbies... WATER the soil FIRST then put the seedling in a small plug and cover. Never doing THAT again! Here's the damage.

O.K. NOW for the GOOD news lol. Assassin is doing terrific. Snow Ryder girls are doing terrific so far. Still keeping a close eye on the SR's to make sure they don't turn Hermi! Have a new addition to the group. Assassin #2! Hopefully will be out of the dirt in 24-48 hours. Should be getting the LW tomorrow.

Assassin #1

Looking good, WVR. :smoke: Too bad about the burned root, but if you're going to lose one, may as well be early before you've spent a lot of time on it.

Heh. I've had that happen with a seedling. I keep a misting bottle around until they pop soil. (dollar store, one dollar!) Prewater the soil, plant the seedling, mist when the top gets dry. That was a nice looking bean, may it come back to you resurrected in the form of massive buds!

Thanks WG!! Appreciate the good wishes! Unfortunately I lost the 2nd Assassin as well... This time I don't know why. Same thing happened. It shriveled up and died. I never thought of that WG. I have a few spray bottles lying around the house. I will use that from now on with the seedlings. Maybe I didn't put them far enough down. So this time I put it at least 1/2 inch down. So, In keeping with the "grow must go on" motto I have planted 2 more Assassins to replace the NYLPD and AA lost today! I still have 4 more NYLPD germing and I should be getting my Himalayan Blue Diesel from Herbie's any day now! They have left NJ and are on the way here so shouldn't be too much longer. If all goes as planned I'll have the LW tomorrow.

EDIT TO POST: Tonight the SR females got fed for the first time. Going more aggressive with the nutes this run to see how they handle it. Mixed 1/3 dose of Grow Natural, 1/3 dose of Bloom Natural, & Full dose of Honey ES per gallon of water pH'd at 6.8-7.0.

Daily Update:

Currently there are...

2 Flowering Snow Ryders
3 Assassin -- One that will be 3 weeks old on Saturday. 2 that were planted last night after PT germination. (One More germing in PT)
3 NYLPD -- One that is a few days old and 2 more put in the dirt today. (2 other are still germing in the PT)

All are in FFOF.

After the HBD and MPJems arrive it will be some run! The Snow Ryders look G R E A T!!! So does the Assassin and NYLPD seedling. SR 1 has growth on EVERY SINGLE node! This is my second auto grow so excuse me if I get excited over the little things! SR 2 is starting to take off as far as node growth and pistils are starting to pop out more frequently. The Assassin also has growth at every node and has broad wide leaves. Looks like an Indica Pheno. I really hope it shows sex soon here! The NYLPD seedling is taking off FAST. My buddy got one up to 33in. so I'm hoping I get privileged to get one that big!

Changed my seedling watering method. I'm just spraying (misting rather) the top of the soil real good instead of pouring water on them like I was doing. Never had a problem before this but, obviously it's caused my taproots to shift and get fried. Also putting them down deeper. I used to go between 1/4 - 1/2 inches down but now I'm going no less than 1/2 inch down. Trying to cut down on wasting precious seeds!! I'll update with some pics tomorrow. Since tomorrow you will see more change I figured posting pics tonight would be boring for you guys lol. Stay tuned things are starting to heat up!!

I would caution against changing something when you've "Never had a problem before this ". Misting the top of the soil is okay if you're just trying to keep it from being too dusty or from getting bone-dry due to ventilation. But, if you do not water thoroughly at normal intervals, the roots will not grow in search of moisture. If it has caused a problem, just be more careful when you're watering seedlings... just water a little more slowly.

Just lookin' in from the outside, this seems like another "over-correction".

We're supposed to learn from our mistakes and mishaps. It's pretty obvious you understand that. But, just like life in general, we'll get thrown a curve-ball sometimes. We don't ignore it (as you are keenly aware) but sometimes we have to weigh it. In this case, we might not want to put too much weight on something that is probably the exception, rather than the rule.

Just my :2cents: :peace:
