Back in the day on UCG people spoke about a Canadian strain called "Wolf Island Sativa", anyone heard of it? Supposed to be super early.

Also "Stank" from FOG (Fast Outdoor Seeds) over at hempdepot looks very interesting.

Even though Canadian strains most often don't finish around these parts, and lack the acquired mold resistance, there is a few there that would do great in crosses with the sturdier Danish strains. Danish strains sometimes sadly got very whispy buds (acclimitization I guess). The Canadian strains got more beefy buds.

Mighty Mite, Freezeland and Guerilla Gold have already been combined with Danish genetics, and especially the Guerilla Gold cross is amazing.

Donkey Dick is another one. In it's pure form there is no point trying around 60n where I am at, but perhaps some crossing could do the trick.

Even the fastest photos don't finish till late october for me. The won't switch into flower at 16 hrs daylight (early august) 56N here. How do we get around that? I love to grow photos I get good results even with the horrible conditions but they are not happy.
Have we spoken about this before? I seem to recall you had experience with some interesting strains :pass:

Hehe, yeah, I sent you some links and suggestions.

I've done countless Danish strains, and likewise autos. Either the autos are too slow to finish flower, or they rot away if you whisper "rain" into their ear.

How I do it without fail:

- start the danish strains around the 10th of may, not too small containers since root restriction is notorious for triggering flower in Danish genetics
- Plant out around 1-5th of June. They will veg for a few weeks and then go into full flower, which doesn't last more than 7 weeks. Only the dankest Danish strains you mostly find grown in the South of Denmark close to Germany can't be finished at 58-61n.
- Root restrict them. I plant them in airpots which I dig down into the ground. Age and root restriction will trigger flower in the Danish strains, even though they can be vegged in a big enough container indoors under 24h light for as long as you like.

Never had one of the Danish strains considered doable for my lat start flower later than around 10th of July.

One summer I threw 20 Purple Thypoon (even earlier pheno of Thypoon that Dyr and Tanska discovered) directly in soil outside the first week of june, even with that handicap they were ready late August.

Line never got continued though since it had bad hermie tendencies.

just checked out our earlier conversation, I need to get ahold of some of those strains. I did not get any for last season. But they sure seem to offer a ray of hope.

I've heard about Monk (HfH) and Thypoon and Nepal (Tanska \ Dyr) done at above 65n.

I will make it a point to get some. So do these strains need the root restriction routine?

No, they will easily finish for you regardless. I just use the trick to get ahead of the deer hunters who prowl the woods.

That is great news. Thank you my friend:pass:
