New Grower Fan controllers

Whats so "smart" about this one?

I have been doing some heavy reading up on fan control. And i get that you would preferably want a variac, and why you want it. And I just cant figure out whats so smart about the smscom compared to other Triac controllers, if that is what it is?

How about the smscom hybrid controllers, any good?

temp controler!
and cheep for what it is.
2nd one is cool too. Lots more money.
depends on what you need.
