"fall colors" at end of grow... mostly genetics or other causes?

Nice looking grow! Your SOG turned into a SOC (sea of color)! What size tent and bags are those?

Your cola development looks great, have you been trimming them much? Normally I would have trimmed mine to let more light into the lower branches, but with the leaves turning I felt like the plants were using that energy so I didn't want to deny them that in case they needed it. That might be my misunderstanding of how things work, but it's what I was going on.
Thank you!
Your tent looks great as well. Nice to see someone else is growing SOG.
The tent is a 24x48x72 and the grow bags are 3 gallon. I just posted more info about this ILGM GG-4 auto grow a couple days ago if you’re interested in more info. To be able to get away with what I’m doing I have to completely leaf strip my plants 2 to 3 times during flowering. When plants are too bushy and I can’t get my fingers in there, I use a electric trimming tool or scissors to expose the colas.
Trying to grow colas here, not foliage. Lol! :)

Nice! It's like a micro hedge trimmer, closest thing I have would be my beard trimmer... ya, not going there. I will probably do more trimming next time. As I mentioned, my solution this run is to do a staggered harvest. It's not as efficient in terms of overall grow time or final harvest weight, but until I get my feeding down better it'll do for now. My experience with two-stage harvests has been that the lower buds don't fatten up much, but they usually finish maturing and turn from underdeveloped popcorn into better quality smokeable popcorn...

This winter I'm only doing the one grow, so I can let it go long, it's not holding up another round. Next winter I might try to start earlier and go back to two indoor grows per winter. In that case trimming the upper fan leaves and having a single harvest would probably serve me better.

I know people are against plucking leaves off of their autos, but they can take it. After growing hundred of these things and always pruning the same way, I’ve come to the conclusion the autos actually grow better with heavy leaf stripping (schwazzing). Seems like the plant focuses more on giving the energy to the colas instead of keeping all the leaves alive.
Lots of work, but it’s worth it.

I'm in a 2x4 also with 3 gallon fabric pots, but I didn't have the guts to try and pack more than 6 in there. I'm just not good enough with autos yet to pull that off.

I'll definitely give it a try, what I've been doing so far has not been working as well as I'd hoped it would.

Doing 2 harvests in a dense crop is always nice, if you can spare the extra time. I’m always to much in a hurry to get my next run going. Lol!

I know what you mean about wanting to get onto the next run. I'm not thinking of doing two runs next winter because we need more weed, it's because after the difficulties getting seeds during the early pandemic, I over-compensated and bought so many that now I have to grow as many as I can while they're still viable!! LOL I'll probably never even get to the freebies...

Thanks! For years I grew photos and somehow I was able to keep them from eating themselves up at the end. This just doesn't feel 'normal' to me, but they do smoke well enough so I guess that's what counts.

Same here. I did the photo thing for awhile and actually have a tent with clones growing right now. For some reason the photos dont impress me as the autos do. Autos are much more rewarding to me and take less time.
