IT'S AN EMERGENCY! lol

I spotted a few amber trichomes. At first I couldn't believe it, but I double checked with a bright neutral white flashlight and there they were still staring back at me.

I'd say the clear/cloudy/amber ratio is about 24/74/2. I've kind of flushed for a week now having given no nutrients since last weekend, so I'm planning to feed straight water this week. On Friday I'll see if the ambers have multiplied in which case I'll prepare to harvest.

I figured it's high time to take a proper picture from under the net. Lots of chunkiness down there.

Also, the undersides of the foremost bud as well as the main cola respectively:

I wonder how much I'll get... :smoke:

Awww, look at her! All scrogged out, wit her little itty bitty buds! Little cute thang!

Ignore the trichomes, that plant is nowhere near harvest. Trichomes go amber for lots of reasons, a larger than average dust particle could've caused that. I start preparing for harvest when 99% of the stigmas have gone orange/red/brown and receded back into the swollen calyxes.

Here's a picture of a bud closing harvest time.

[edit] The flowering is just taking longer than normal because the LEDs lack intensity to flower the plant in 90~ days.

This is of course how I'd prefer it, but I'm being cautious in any case. It should be noted that there's only so much 17W can do. Low-powered lighting will lead to small and airy buds among other things.

I can't count the times I've seen people tell each other to ignore the pistils because "trichomes don't lie". Because I want the high as clear and active as possible, I won't wait until I have 30% amber even if that means less yield. This means that if there are notably more amber trichs a week from now I will chop. If on the other hand it's a false alarm, I will keep going.

If everything goes even close to how I've planned, I'll be starting a new grow with a proper light after Christmas, so I'm not too worried about a potentially scrawny yield. :tiphat:

It's looking really great bro!! This is fun and inspirational to watch haha.

The Delahaze has an appointment with the hairdresser on Sunday.

Last weekend before I left I turned down the thermostat in the room. The temperature seems to have settled at 68 at day and probably closer to 65 at night. I also shortened the light cycle by postponing the lights on with about 30 minutes. There has definitely been a spike in ripening and the amber trichomes have indeed multiplied. There are many opaque and amber trichs even on the buds themselves now with the rest of them being perhaps 20% clear and 80% milky.
I reckon now is the time.

This piss poor picture is intended as a size reference since I didn't take the usual pics before I removed the net. I was too hasty to get her in the dark I guess. The squares of the net were about 5 cm wide.

I also plan to keep her in the dark till Sunday when I'll trim her and hang her to dry before I leave again. Now, I've never really seen a particularly good comparison of before and after the dark period so I decided to try making one myself. I'm simply keeping the camera on the tripod without touching anything at all. On sunday I'll open the cab and just press the shutter again. This way I should have some pretty solid evidence on whether anything's changed (for this strain at least). Here's before (you can see many of the amber trichomes):

One more thing... Please tell me this isn't what's left of Mr. Earthworm's corpse :C

Oh man, that's already looking a lot bigger than in your previous pics. The amber trichomes are still mostly on the leaves, all the calyxes with the white stigmas are still going to swell. Cool grow either way, even if you decide to chop soon.

Cheers friend! I read this during the week and I thought there might be some truth to it. http://www.rollitup.org/t/new-high-times-suggests-harvesting-earlier-riu-rejoice.401972/

I'll take quality over quantity any day, and if I don't like the smoke I get from this grow I'll know not to chop this early again.
