HARVEST UPDATE! :woohoo:

I woke up to one of the most heavenly smells I've ever experienced. There was a strong scent of apricot with other sweet and fruity aromas I can't quite name. Mango and a bit of citrus, perhaps. I could tell that the 38 hours of darkness had affected the terpenes like I never could've imagined.

Without turning the lights on I opened the cab, took a picture and cut the plant away from her roots. This is supposed to prevent the plant from pumping chlorophyll to the buds. I let her hang for about an hour in the dark cab before I started trimming her. I had to cut her in two in order to get to all the leaves but I guess she'll dry adequately well like that too.

The tripod had given in to the bulky camera and its fully extended lens so the before and after pics aren't as accurate as I wanted them to be. The exposure on the newer photo even ended up a bit darker so the plant actually looked less frosty. :slaps: The trichomes are all there, though.

I really can't see any difference. Maybe it's bulked up but it's nothing that couldn't have been achieved by just keeping up 12/12.

And now the exciting part - Harvest pics!

I didn't get much trim. I'm unsure what I'll do with it. I really don't have the equipment for any kind of hash making and I'm having second thoughts about butter.

The buds, however turned out to be way bigger than I'd anticipated. Still not much, but it should definitely make for a few good smoke sessions. I'm hoping there isn't much chemical taste in them.
I can't really guess the dry weight so I'll just have to wait and see. I'm hoping it'll be at least 5 grams.

She'll get to dry in the cab for 5-7 days. Next weekend I'll store her in a jar with a 62% Boveda pack.

:tiphat:

Hey bruv whatever the result at least you have completed a grow now, been quite fun to watch. Think you should have gone longer as looks like white pistils showing but none the less most of us have chopped early at some point. Well done again hopefully we see more of you. Enjoy bruv

Thanks! From what I've seen it's common for this strain to have at least 50% white pistils at the time of harvest. I could've gone a week longer but I really wanted to experiment with harvesting a bit early.

:slap: Great work!

Thanks for the rep and all the support along the way!

Nice man! didn´t believe that you could grow a decent plant just with 40w :Sharing One:

Gratz on the harvest. The waiting definitely paid off, A couple of more weeks and those buds would've been like rocks. Atleast you've got yourself some clear headed speed weed. :coffee2: Are you going start a new grow soon?

The 48 hours of darkness before harvest doesn't seem to do anything, atleast I've never noticed any difference. Cannabis plants utilize light, not darkness. I've also started harvesting after the lights have been on for a few hours, that's when they look frostiest. There doesn't seem to be any difference in smokability either, the sugars that go to the roots during night time should make the plant sweeter and stinkier, so I prefer letting them travel back into the buds. Also should make for a slightly heavier harvest.

17W actual ;)

I'm quite surprised myself! :roflcry:

I'm planning to start a new grow during new year if things go well.

I've already bought a 50x3W UFO from china (probably 50-75W actual draw), an inline fan and a filter, some autoflowering beans and air pots. None of them have arrived yet but there's still plenty of time.

Cheers!

Cool cool, yeah don't always stress the pistils, some will keep throwing out freshie pistils until they kill themselves lol. Just evolution. You got the right ideas bro :) You were almost right about the chlorophyll, but here's some additional clarification: The theory is that during the dark cycle, the circulation slows down to a crawl, and the heavier/ more mobile salts (nutes) can settle back to the root zones, thus out of the buds. It doesn't actually have much to do with chlorophyll, but, obviously during the dark cycle, chlorophyll is inactive and thus not pulling nutrition by osmosis.

That's actually pretty nice for such a small light and on 12/12 even.
Buds look delicious :)

Definitely yet another proof that you don't need a lot of money and space to grow your own weed.
