New Grower Dwc pineapple express auto

@NorthernLights_420 how you getting on mate?
She got root rot. I tried like hell to save her but she wouldn't budge at all with h202 treatments and also hydroguard. Nothing worked on her like it has in the past for me. Sucks I had to throw her away unfortunately. Fucking pissed me off. I think it's cuz I had the water level top high for too long, either that or some fungus gnat larvae tore her up beyond repair. Got lazy and fucked up. Ordering supplies so I don't lose any more. Getting supplies for the fungus gnat problem and also root rot problems if they continue to happen. Another 200 or 300 bucks I have to invest but my set up will be flawless once I do. And shit like this won't happen no more. I also had 4 air stones in the res at first, took 3 out and few days after is when the pythium set in. So not sure if it was lack of dissolved oxygen, too much water, or gnats. But I plan to fuck these asshole gnats up and get some real growers recharge to make beneficial bacteria and fungal tea for healthy roots and preventive measures again pythium. I know my water temps are under 68 so that's not the issue . There's no light leaks in my res so that's not it either. I will get to the bottom of it and fix my room though. Too much money, time and resources invested. It was a sad day when I threw her away. But shit happens, I got 4 still going, there just 2 weeks and under on all of them. She just started a few days ago when I threw pineapple express away. Lessons learned

The calcium defiency was cuz of the root rot. Her roots weren't able to take up any nutrients anymore so she started showing signs above ground

Thats shit man, I think you hit the nail on the head with the dissolved oxygen, I just changed from air stones to an air injection diffuser, I like it so far, tiny bubbles but I fear the roots are going to get tangled in it and I will need to switch to air stones later.

Sorry to hear about this, but glad your other girls are doing ok! :headbang:
Thanks. This is another reason why I chose to use single 5 gallon buckets per 1 plant. So problems can't spread to all the plants like in a recirculating dwc system or like a big plastic tote with 2 to 4 plants, I don't do that either cuz then if one plant has a problem they all can get the same problem. More work this way but smarter if you ask me. Instead of losing them all I only lost one. But still sad I lost her. I've always been able to get them to bounce back, this one wouldn't at all. Tried like hell to save her and was unsuccessful. Time to sanitize my room and sterilize that bucket and all my equipment this weekend since I have all weekend off work.

I agree. A months time lost. Pure shit. But what can you do? Sometimes shit happens. Never had any dissolved oxygen problems though running my pump with all 4 outlets going at once. There was more dissolved oxygen in that bucket since a few lines were shut off, so there was more power going to that bucket. I don't think it was that honest. That's just when I noticed it, shortly after I took some stones out and left the 1 only. My guess is cuz I didn't drop the water level, it was soaking my hydroton too much probably. Once I took airstones out there might not of been enough D.O. since she was submerged more than she should of been. But my guess is the damn fungus gnats or high water. I don't even know how these gnats still living honestly. I hit all my growing medium with dimactious earth to kill them. Anyways here is what I'm adding to my arsenal soon. Just waiting on funds to order this stuff. Ill stop the water level soon as roots are dropped next time. I'm almost there on my Diesel Berry Auto. So if the gnats do the same thing to this plant I'll know it was them and not my water level. Trying process of elimination to figure it out.

Diesel berry auto almost 2 weeks old. First roots showing already, waiting for them to drop then I'll lower the water level. I transplant so I don't have to top feed til roots drop. Have my rooter plug just above the popping bubbles to make it easier than top feeding for 2 weeks daily. Might try a new approach and let my rooter plugs go in a separate bucket to get a nice root system before I transplant. So I can lower the water level below the net pot and keep my growing medium dry so fungus gnats hopefully stay out of my shit. Don't even know where these little bastards came from but they suck.

Good idea! Luckily my large net pot has a hole in the bottom of, a smaller net pot then sits upside down over the hole and the Rockwood cube sits on top of that so there is a direct route straight to the water so 2 days in and normally roots are in the water so I just start my water level below the net pot as the Rockwood cubes are wet enough from pre soaking in Rhizotonic to be able to feed them until roots reach water
