New Grower DWC, Led, First time grow (3x Think Different)

Could it be his epson salts on his roots? I had some bakeing soda on some of my roots once close to the netpot. I know for sure cause it foamed when I dunked my finger in vinegar. Wasnt grainy though and it was from a plant that was just a bubble bucket, no rez and it was accompanied with some white foam I associated with my water being to warm. Wasnt that much though

I will buy a RO-Type filter for my next grow.

Hey fantastic grow and fun threat, read it from page one because you are growing in the same space as me and also enjoying the wonderful world of DWC :D

I agree with Pop and it looks like calcium build up on the roots, I have the same problem with the tap water here so I use rainwater instead, it is risky because of outside bacteria but the PPM of it is amazing though, 10-16 PPM for me because I live out in the country side but I also plan on using Cannazym to add and help out the beneficial bacteria and keep the res. water under 19 c

But your roots are looking very healthy and plants look great so I would so keep going and follow the advices of the oldies and goldies on this forum, this is my first AUTOFLOWER but I done many regular cannabis strain grow so I am thankful for all the tips and help I get because each strain of cannabis is different ;)

but subbing this threat so I dont miss an update ;)

Count me in Faquarl, those plants look great.
Im going DWC soon,so very interested in your grow. Those home made leds are doing a great job so far.
Good luck.

... meant to ask you if you touched it and felt the texture, and if there's any odor,... if it's kinda spongey, surprisingly tough, it might be bacterial,... if it's more like slightly hardened cottage cheese, fragile, gooey.. I'd lean toward fungal... some very odd things can turn up in wierd places..for example, I get this weird soft plastic-like film in my cars window washer fluid reserve on occasion,...I flush it out, and to comes out in sheets and shreds! :slaps::wtf:....LMAO!!... I've since taken to adding a little alcohol into the fluid res',... *** AH! I see you posted up in the higher traffic LHT... there are a few other folks here who might know what this glop is!

Im glad that someone can learn from my mistakes :smoke: Next grow i will rebuild my light with 250-300 watt and if anyone is interested i could make a full tutorial.
Hopefully not too many mistakes mate.lol.
Id be interested in a led diy tutorial, ive been doing some research and an aware of the basics, but always best to see
how its done properly.

Almost certain it´s fungi. Been doing cubensis before and that looks similar! :(

sending good:karma Cloud:your way bro. that's some scary stuff there. sorry I don't know enough to offer any advice. stick with it I'm sure you'll get thru it

I think id be rubbing some vinegar on that shit,if it is calcium deposits it will fizz
as suggested by natertots. It will rule out one possibility.
Good luck with it mate.

Yeah seems like luck is on my side on my first grow :) I love dwc its easy to build and doesnt require much maintance.

More and more I am seeing people being big fans of DWC in a tub rather than 5gal "bubble buckets". I did the buckets (4 at a time in a 4x4) and it was a total PITA and hard on my back and knees with a lot of repetitive work and heavy lifting. But then again, it was only a total PITA one day a week when I changed the solution and washed buckets and got them ready for the next switch.

I'm spending a LOT of money on light right now (220w veg on 18/6 and 1000w bloom on 12/12 costing about $200/month) but I got better yields under a 600w in Hydro than 1000w in soil or coco.

My main thing is the noise it makes and not wanting to arouse my neighbors' suspicion or complain to the landlord. That commercial O2 pump vibrates so hard and loud I can feel it from 2 rooms away. On the other hand, I found the bubble output of the "hobby" pumps totally inadequate (the consumer grade pumps sold by active aqua/hydrofarm).

You have the golden touch first-timer. This couldn't have gone better for you. I'm proud you skipped all the mistakes and went straight to winning at life. :)

What are you using for air pumps and stones? What do you add to the water to manage bacteria and crud?
